VB-series india performance - ODI first victory
by King-Maruthu on Jan 19, 2004 01:40 PM

Just like the VB, Victoria bitter the victory is still bitter.
1. The indian captain still says we have done well with test, though its long over.
2. The Aussie team showed little grit. 99% of bowling was outside., the field was set easy, we have doubts if the match was made to play for indian victory.
3. Pretty un-interesting debut, Rohan !! Wonder what credibility would his place be justified now. there were more interesting players waiting outside.
4. Was the match paid ? Rahul and VVS kept hitting only singles even after 40th over.
5. Ponting wasn't dejected after loosing, its might be because they were playing for indian victory.
6. Aussie wicket fell easily.. wonder if aussies fought our bowling sooooo hard & awakard, makes things funny.
7. Even the series started pretty suspicious, Mcgrath has to go on injury., how true is it., To add, kaif, sewhag go into injury list to make way for unknown rohan in cricketing circle.
8. Favourites aussies dropping down, steve, brett lee, pointing all have indian connection, they could well be paid to underplay in the name of endorsement or sponserships. brett was pretty expensive match after match in his bowling department.

Can V V S Laxman make a mark in limited overs cricket?
by Madhav on Jan 18, 2004 12:42 PM

Laxman has answered the question on the rediff's message board. He was definately a better choice than D. Mongia. Did Kale's case illustrate us how people get selected. He and Dravis have continued their performance agaist World Champions in the LOI too.

Ganguly bhai stop dreaming!
by Bapu Rao Swami on Jan 18, 2004 08:43 AM

I understand our captain is a moral inspiration to every Indian but I think he's taken a step further with his latest comments - every captain may disagree with the coach but that doesn't mean The captain needs to make such disagreements public !

As for me its all good for Ganguly to say what he pleases, do remember its not a perfect world, the day he fails the media will hound him.

Give rest to players one by one.
by TVSR Mohan on Jan 18, 2004 01:21 AM

Actions speak louder than words. Win all the ODIs and the finals and all controversy will melt. Till then don't blow your own trumpet. Concentrate on your game and improve it with every outing. For God's sake avoid injuries. Give rest to all players one by one or else no one will be fit enough to play the finals.

Ind vs Aus on Sunday
by Udai on Jan 17, 2004 09:22 PM

Ganguly looks confident about Sundays match. Medium pacers Bhandari and Nehra, including Agarkar, should get a chance together to put some pressure on the Aussies. Also, they need to be aware that Brett Lee is playing as well and hence they need to bat with huge concentration. I wish them all the best for this game. Keep it up Sehwag :)!
