This is the stuff I like

You are unmatched when it comes to thoughtful and interesting analysis like this. I wish you'd start doing match bulletins again as well. Faisal seems to have too many thoughts on his mind when he is writing match bulletins; Ashish does a much better job but you're the best. Keep it up!

Prem's article on Zimbabwe and gilly
by villi on Jan 17, 2004 02:16 AM

It is funny that Prem is suggesting that Zimbabwe has gilly back to form. Indian bowlers are no less in making stars out of ordinary batsmen. It should be remembered that Hayden got confidence and became star because of Indian bowling. Also Indian bowlers over the years are gulity of giving highest scores to tail end batsmen. So let us not pretend that we have a great bowling attack and see what happens in the next match.

I disagree

I disagree with this assesment. Normally when you walk into a match facing a weaker opposition, you know you have a chance to go for a good knock. This is purely psychology. Against India Gilchrist has been struggling, or maybe India has found a way to bowl him. In World Cup, neither Zaheer, Nehra or Srinath had clever slow deliveries. They kept feeding him with juicy deliveries. But Agarkar is different. He has got several top guys with cunning slow balls. I think this was discovered in the TVS Cup, when Hayden and Gilchrist plays, they will mix up deliveries, make it hard for them to score, which eventually will make them do mistakes.

As far as Zimbabwe getting him into form, I doubt it,you must remember these guys go thru' rigorous training program which involves confidence building sessions as well. He would been foddered with good stuff in the nets, but that doesn't really help.

We cannot blame Zim. every batsman has his own bad time. Gilly was haing a very good series in india. Now he came out the bad days. Indians made Lee a bowler when we visited there last time
