One should comment on a person with proper analysis
by keerthi singri on Jan 18, 2004 01:35 PM

i am sure the author of this report would be running out of hiding space.(sorry if its too direct, but so was ur comment about laxman.) Well he is a class, and has shown it in tests. It was just a matter of time to let his flow going.

Dravid if u remember took over 2 years to get a confirmed place in one-dayers and you dont want to give any time for laxman. He shut all those annoying comments for gud with his unbeaten century that came up in classic fashion on the last ball of the innings(if i am not wrong).

Vintage Laxman!
by Muralidhar Rao on Jan 16, 2004 11:57 PM

Laxman does not have the patience needed for one day cricket. Unless Laxman learns the art of running for 1,2 and 3 runs he will not succeed.(Stackpole is correct) Another drawback is Laxman's poor shot selections and not paying proper attention to the field placements. We all want Laxman to succeed but time seems to be running out for Laxman as far as pyjama cricket is concerned. It is a shame that fewer tests are played and the game of cricket is the real loser and not Laxman.

They are two different games....

I dont understand why Laxman should be in the one-day team. I have nothing against him. He is made for test cricket and let him be that way. There are Yuvrajs, Badanis and Kaifs who are far better than him in the shorter version of the game.

There is no sense in bringing emotions into the selction process. true, he played some glorious innings in the tests. but that does not mean that he gets a position in the one-day squad. They are two different games.

Dear Diljeeth,
Yuvraj and Badani are in the team and Kaif is injured.
The performances of these players against Aussies is not good. You choose players depending on your opposition. The Aussies are amazed at the way we dropped Laxman from our team despite his talent and performance. Class is permanent and form is temporary.

dot balls played by indian batsmen.
by Madhav on Jan 16, 2004 07:12 AM

Recent Sehvag inn was classic example of it he scored 50 runs of 10 balls with5 exies and 4s each. In remaining 92 balls he could score just 40 runs which is like a Ravi Shastri. Should they look for running ? This habbit of scoring all runs without running proves costly against the team who have good bowlers. So why blame only Laxman This one is Team effort.

Test vs ODI
by TVSR Mohan on Jan 16, 2004 12:33 AM

Laxman is a talented batsman and should be able to adjust to the one day format sooner than later. His batting depends on drives and not on the lofted shots. His timing and placement should help him improve his performances. His position in the batting order does not give him much time to settle down in ODIs. He should develop the skill to pierce well spread out fields. He is making a comeback to ODIs and may be a bit tentative. Have some patience he will come good.
After the strenuos test series the Australian greats also fumbled and depended on Symonds and Clarke. It is a matter of time and Laxman will play his blazing shots in ODIs also.
