by richard on Jan 16, 2004 05:08 AM

Hello
i would like to tell one thing, in one day sachin is the greatest player ever produced by the cricket world, there is no doubt about that, against Australia in Sharja, 1996 worl cup,Against Pakistan at world cup2003...lot but in test there is no memorable innings from sachin ...in test cricket he is not a great batsman there r names like Bradman, steave,lara,Gavaskar..etc

Why can't Sachin play knocks like Fleming played aginst Pakistan. I think Sachin will never be a matchwinner...the Sydney test was draw, for your information.

Dear Bapu Rao Swami,

Hi ! I am very glad to know your opinion about so called little master Mr. Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. I also belive that Stephen Flemming can handle pressure very well than Mr. S. R. Tendulkar. Mr. Sachin can never be match winner.

I would like to say here that you have a great sense of cricket game. Let us pray together that may god give good sense of cricket game to those peoples who are blind fans of so called little master Mr. Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. I belive that he is a GREATER than other players, but as far as PERSONAL MILESTONE / RECORDS is concerned.

If any fan of Mr. S. R. Tendulkar would like to comment on this, please let me know.

Bye for now.

With warm regards
Atik Karedia
(Former die hard fan of Mr. Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar)

Sachin is a hype created by the meida
by AG on Jan 15, 2004 05:00 PM

Sachin Tendulkar has never played under tremendous pressure. Most of the readers have pointed out about the Sarjah match ,but don't forget Australia had a very weak attack , their main strike bowler was Kasporwiz.Had he been a match winner we would have won atleast one series overseas. Can anyone remeber me of a single instance when he pulled victory for India in Test matches (overseas).Comparatively Rahul ,Sourav are better as regards to match winning. Moreover in recent matches he has shown his true selfish nature. Whenever he is in his nineties he slows down irrespective of the situation. Can anyone tell me why he didn't cut loose after scoring 200 in the sydney test ,it was just to keep himself not out so that his batting average does not drop.Look at Ganguly how he throws his bat when required.Look at Dravid how he has taken the responsibility of wicket keeping inspite of being India's No 1 batsman. One moment 10dulkar was dropped from his opening slot in the ODIs he started screaming like anything.

Sachin - Match Winner or Not ?
by Dileep Tharoor on Jan 15, 2004 04:42 PM

If you really look into the statistics, one cant deny the fact that sachin's centuries or big innings and India's win have not gone together too many times. Here I am being relative to the similar statistics of other players like Ganguly, Steve Waugh, Saeed Anwar, Lara etc. Ganguly's case is just opposite and when ever he had played a major innings, India had won that match.

With due respect to the this legend's enormous talent, it just cant be a coincedence or luck factor which stands as a wall between his long innings and india's wins. But I do agree that most of the wins might have had some indirect sachin factor in it.

So sachin has to do something in order to make sure that his achievements are not mutually exclusive with India's.

Sour Grapes for Sourav!
by praguhbis on Jan 15, 2004 10:45 AM

Rediff has done it! Very cleverly youve circumvented any mention of match winning performance of Sourav at yesterdays ODI against Zimbabwe. Such is the notoriety of the author that a person who hadnt seen the match would readily believe that either Sourav did not play or went out for a duck. The reason could be that he did not want to mention the name of Laxman ( fellow Telugu) who turned turtle with a grand total of 13 runs. I am sorry but Indian Media is rapidly gaining the racist taint of the Serbian Press of early 1990s. So much disunity, so much dissonance against a particular community, such abnormal love for their own that they have forgotten to be analytical and are like mindless monsters driven by only a vapid sense of a primitive being. Therere some former cricketers whore uncouth, uneducated and indulged in every other activity not at all associated with cricket advising that Sourav should bat at no.6 so that never in his life he makes a 50 or a 100 but allows purely selfish players like Sehwag and Sachin bask in the sun.

faisal sharif's article
by mohan srinivas on Jan 15, 2004 08:39 AM

the only problem i have with this article is faisal's ascribing of zimbabwe's problems somewhat subtly to the color quota. after andy flower left, it is not obvious to me that all the white players on the team, and there are many senior white players there, played well enough to pick up the slack. so why blame taibu and hondo who are both young and inexperienced for zimb.'s woes? racism is something to watch out for, even if subtly interjected in a cricket article. i have a distinct memory of the SA team, the SA media and the Indian media (the last probably purely for cricketing reasons) criticizing mkaya ntini's selection when india played SA. after he gained some experience, he has turned out to be one of the best fast bowlers in the world at present, and easily the best SA bowler over the last year or so! so take it easy, faisal.
