Tail Crumbled Again
by Anshul on Jan 16, 2004 09:40 AM

This will not be wrong to say that tail crumbled again but, Srinath himself was amongst the tail and crumbled many a times failing to make it to the win.

So more likely it should have been said that India's Tailenders have to work hard on their batting techniques and they have to belive that they can make India dig out the win.

srinath's reply

u'r right, srinath
what we indian's do is follow each other;
we allways are a follower. If the wickets are falling, they fall in the pyscological barriers of the opposite team & they too lose the wicket.
What i suppose is that we need to be MENTALLY FIT

Bowlers should bat
by Hari on Jan 14, 2004 12:02 AM

During golden days, I used to think Kapil will come do the rest, tail handers were never good in batting for some time now. Can't point fingers at the batsman all the time... opponent is for sure can pack Indian tail handers for a mere 20's.

The tail crumbled again

You too Brutus ! You were a regular tailender and you know the problems they face when runs have to be scored quickly against Gillespie et al. How can you blame the tail? I thought it was a batsman's job to score runs for the team and not depend on wicket keepers and bowlers to finish the game. This is an ODI where the batsmen have to play only 50 overs. Can't they survive the 50 overs without exposing the tail? We have forgotten Sobers and Clive Lloyd who would bat with the tailenders, shield them and win or draw matches. Our celebrated batsmen should learn a lot from them. It is a shame we excuse our batsmen who could not score the winning runs.

You are right Javagal!

thats true, the tail crumbled under pressure but doesn't that happen always. Even when you played ofr the India team, they'd crumble under pressure; thats what they're consistent at.

The Indian team has only one way of improving its tails batting and thats by having batsman to bat instead of a tail. hey why not fill the Indian team with batsman, like that we can continue drawing tests and feeling happy about it.

Short pitch
by bharat on Jan 11, 2004 01:22 PM

Indian tail enders can't play straight short pitch balls. Hell, even the top order batsmen can't play them. This is a well known fact and aussies have only used it now. Ganguly and Yuvraj had to finish the match. They didn't. Symonds and Clarke did not play well- their runs were gifted because Ganguly didn't attack them. Symonds was going for deliveries outside off-stum. He should have had 3 slips and a gully for him. Clarke was heaving anything short of goodlength towards leg. He should've brought in Agarkar/Pathan to bowl a few balls on his body and make him go for the hook. He would've been a goner. Main point, we lost the game when we let the aussies score 280 from 89/4.

Wake up to reality!
by Muralidhar Rao on Jan 11, 2004 05:54 AM

The tail crumbled again? So what is so surprising about that? India drew the test series 1-1. That was like a sweet dream. Lets wake up to the reality of getting embarrased by Australia all over again. Once again in the match the great Indian icons proved that they are gutless chokers. They never really believed they could win. If they had, thay would have won handily.
