Wow what a dictator you are? Do you know that there is freedom of speech in India. Don't be blind in supporting your heroes who are human and can commit mistakes.

Yeah because there is no other captain now. Have you heard of a captain called Nawab of Pataudi? He did not have a team with the talent which is under Ganguli's command but is considered the best captain India has ever had. We have a short memory.

Steve Waugh with all his admirers could not win the series. Does it mean that he has become a bad captain suddenly. Captains are successful because of their teams.

Captains like Nawab of Pataudi are respected because they marshalled their meagre resources admirably. Ganguly has probably the best Indian team under his command and so his success rate is higher not because of his captaincy. Sure he has infused a fighting spirit but so did Kapil Dev. He even won the world cup for India but you still prefer to call Ganguly the best. Well it is your opinion. Be happy.

Ganguly's captaincy
by Debashis Sarkar on Jan 07, 2004 01:14 PM

On the hindsight it seems that Ganguly could have done 10 things differently and everyone becomes a expert on what he should have done without fully being aware of the facts.
Criticizing for the sake of it seems to be the hallmark of this article and the writer is pretty ordinary and ill informed.

Steve Waugh shines
by vinod dinakar on Jan 07, 2004 10:27 AM

Congratulations to Steve for the wonderful contribution to the world of cricket. His cool, collective temperament even at tense, tight situations should be model for all cricketers to imbibe since the game is a gentlemen's game.
Parthiv may have to sit out for couple of test matches and Deepdas Gupta brought in.
Good luck to India in the One-day series

Waugh's WOW
by G. Neelakantan on Jan 07, 2004 09:16 AM

The sydney test was drawn when Ganguly did not enforce the follow on. A very defensive approach from the media called good skipper. Either he has no confidence in his batsmen playing out 2 session or has no confidence in his bowlers. Did he really tink that he would be able to blow the aussies out in 3 sessions. It is india that in the last 3 years has learnt to survive aday in test matches. Had he enforced a follow on he would have put the pressure back on the aussies to last 5 sessions and also keep scoring. There was more of an outside chance at that rather than batting again. Kumble has not been a favourite of his as has been seen in the last few series. Excessive dependence on Harbhajan post 2001 series, has indicated the results. 24 wickets in 3 matches, and yet Kumble is not in the scheme of Ganguly's plans. The key breakthrough during the Historic win this series was sachin with two wickets including that of steve waugh and did not bowl a single over in the first innings. So much for the captain touted as the best. It is just that the players who are individually capable are putting up a more consistent show, and we are winning not Ganguly's captaincy. Hats off to Waugh !

good-luck

my message to the indian team is that they should be proud, because the way they played in this test, it seems like they are now a world class team to reckon with.to beat them in the forthcoming series would be like a big heavy weight on every team;s shoulders. they should take pride in the manner they matched australia in every department of the game with the master class batsmen in full form.keep on doing the good work guy;s. it;s your turn to show the world that still we are one of the best teams in the world to match australia.

Good point

this is an article which shud remind all cricket fans what they're forgetting. getting a draw is not great. A little bit of thinking from Ganguly could have saved the match. Situations like this show that Ganguly is very very ineffective in thinking the extra mile.
It's high time India and ganguly stop resting on laurels and sweat for a win.Be realistic guys !!!
