Sehwag maybe good
by Arjun Paul on Jan 05, 2004 07:31 PM

Sehwag, maybe good but no one should compare him with Sachin Tendulkar. Every one knows that he plays with closed eyes and just throws his bat on the ball and every one thinks that he is a classic player he lacks the class which tedulkar has. How can anyone say he bats like sachin its really disappointing.

Sehwag is the best

Everybody has his or her own opinion about Sehwag but i would say he is really a great batsman those who say he is immature. I would like to tell them a batsman with 11 half centuries 6 centuries in ODI averege neering 35 and in test having averege just below 46 with five centuries must be consider consistant and mature. he is not like afridi, rather he is more like jaysurya who can play both forms of cricket and perform accordingly.

Boxing Day hero Virender Sehwag can be trusted for his counter attacks !
by Dr. Cajetan Coelho on Jan 05, 2004 12:19 PM

Virender Sehwag has many of the finer virtues of a post modern sportsman. Aggression, competetive and combative spirit that is well supported by plenty of energy in his compact body. He is an extremely useful batsman who can terrorise the best of bowlers and remove them from the firing line before they settle with their line and length with the red cherry on a fresh pitch. Once condemned and sentenced to hide, the bowler reworks his strategy and comes back for his next spell and this is where Virender may have to take note of. But with experience he is bound to learn and know what is best for Team India, for his own career and for us all who love his huge contributions and look for many more in days to come. The sweet memory of Virender's Boxing Day knock will be cherised and remembered by the sports loving Australian folk year after year on every Boxing Day.

Making of Sewhag
by Charan Rawat on Jan 02, 2004 02:53 PM

So Sewhag has made some strong 72 runs and we are all gaga ove it. But look at hgis batting style and I am disappointed at the sheer waste of time that he is on crease. Of the 72 made in 115 balls, he hit 10 fours and 1 six, i.e 46 runs came from 11 balls and remianing 26 from 104 balls. In other words, he scored 70% of runs in in 10% balls and 30% came from remaining 90%. if this is not waste of batting time, what else is. He has to grow up to learn that rotating strike, runnign singles is much easier than a few swashbuckling shots. Learn something from batting pattern of Dravid and Laxman and importance of ones and twos over the cross boundry shots becomes obvious.

is the Indian team management / coach lookign at this or we are still basking in frayed glories of Adelaide oval

Sehwag Is On Fire
by KSM SUNDARAM on Jan 02, 2004 01:36 PM

For Veeru there are no half measures. If the ball is there to be hit he will hit it and hit it HARD!!

A blithe spirit, he needs to be left alone to play his natural game.

The Nawab of Najafgarh will surely continue to play more such valuable innings in future also.

again, an immature opener is glorified here
by sesh on Jan 02, 2004 12:22 PM

Sehwag may be great to watch when he is clicking. But, rashness at the national level shouldn't be admired even if he got a half-century. Sehwag needs to become a Saeed Anwar not be content with a Kris Srikanth. He needs to take more ownership for the team and consolidate a good start. these things can't be left for a person to learn on the job. for god's sake, he must've played zillions of matches (albeit lesser opponents) to have already gained this maturity.
Such rash dismissals need to be condemned in the strongest terms by the press, selectors and team.
