Ramesh is a joke!

What is this fellow writing about? Ramesh should not have been selected at all. Bangar should have been selected instead of Ramesh. Bangar could have done what Chopra is doing right now. Just play the overs and not worry about scoring runs. What kind of strategy is this? An opening batsman should be able to score runs, not just play out overs. And Bangar could have been used as a bowler also but to what effect only God knows. Coming back to Ramesh he was a total failure last time he went. So why did the selectors pick Ramesh? Reminds me of Kale for reasons other than merit. Even Harbhajan and Nehra were also picked inspite of injuries.

Did u read up on the last tour before commenting? I am not saying Ramesh did not fail. But after playing only 2 tests, his tally was almost the same as Laxmans without that 167 and he actually made more runs than Dravid in spite of playing 1 game less. Every player had reasons for their failure in that tour and hence to use Rameshs bad performance as the excuse to criticize his place in this present squad indicates nothing but a lack of focus and absolute ignorance of everything that is associated with the selection of the team. I am not the expert that my reply might portray me as, but at least I don't stick my head out to say something stupid like this. Would you have said that Dravid should not go to Aus. since he avg. just around 15 runs? No, u would not, because in these yrs, Dravid has made runs. But he had the chances which Ramesh did not have. Most of the reasons that were given for Ganguly's dropping after 1992 are the same that are used to refer to Rameshs case too. So as Prem says, Ramesh has nothing to blame but his lackadaisical attitude previously and now bad personal luck, not to mention some bad choices when it came to aligning himself with the powers that be...

Well said, Prem.

It's a very fair comment by Prem. That's why, it makes such a different reading unlike those from the other "experts". It's Ramesh who had done his own undoing and noone alse. Selectors will be unfair by default and is an issue to be taken for granted. If you are giving more reasons to them, you are digging your own grave.

Now, he is left to be in a dilemma whether to pray for the current Indian openers' success for the team's betterment as a true fan or otherwise!?!

Ramesh history

Prem,
I agree with your analysis of Ramesh. However, i do get a feeling that your parochialism is exposed after your constant breast beating about Ramesh, Karthik, et al. I do agree that Karthik is destined to stay but Ramesh neither looks or deserves a place in the 11. Maybe he will get alook after a couple of years, but if he succeeds despite that, I will take my hat off to him and apologise to you.
Meanwhile, better sense prevailed and the best 11 was fielded , atleast from the batting perspective
