While Ganguly & his men deserves accolades for playing the game to make it historic, the conduct of two gentlemen in white, particularly on the final day needs a closer look. They must clarify to the public, who are the patrons. Why only players should have code of conduct?

It is high time ICC calls for explanation from the umpires in all test matches, lest eventually, they will be responsible for turning the game in to their whims. It should be the players who decide and dictate the course of the match by their play and none others.

India should use Anil Kumble to win the Test Match!
by Dillip Kumar Sahoo on Jan 05, 2004 03:31 PM

As the pitch is going to be very very slower than previous, India should use Anil Kumble and other spinners with a strong/ accurate fielding to win the Test match. The match is in the hand of India. Only thing is to concentrate on fielding and try to get opener out as soon as possible.

SACHIN RESPONSIBLE FOR SYDNEY DRAW
by warren on Jan 05, 2004 02:11 PM  | Hide replies

if india is unable to win the sydney test the blame shud be on 2 mumbaites 1.SACHIN - who has been always selfish and was reflected in his unwillingness to score runs in the first and the second innings fast for the fear of loosing his wicket and disturbing his average parthiv patel fearlessly stroked around the aussie bowlers -shame on SACHIN 2.AGARKAR - inspite having given the maximum no. of chances he had had only one 5 wkt haul to show.. lets down the country when required most to perform...

Hello
My friend,I understand ur furstration that, sachin is a hardly productive player when country really needed him but when u mention that sachin is a selfish guy ,I think ur just claming that, on the based of statistical record.Human being perform badly in to condition 1st when he dosen't known how to perform paticularly thing & 2nd When he really demand too much from himself.
There is a proverb like "Anything in excess will result bad".

Sir, perhaps you'd agree that drawing a match is always better than losing it. If yes you'd not have said that. If India has not lost the match AND Australia has not won the match, the credit goes to Tendulkar... AND.. even God would have become a nervous wreck if He were a batsman and had come to suffer the kind of umpiring decisions as soon as He landed in a land called Australia ( four not outs were given out and three of them at a personal score of 0) AND.. still without making a fuss about it,if one is trying to improve his performance and contribution to the team, that effort needs to be honoured (Australians call it the fighting spirit and are quite "proud" of it , i think) and NOT termed as "shameful". And ,by the way, may i know the DIFFERENCE in strike rate for Tendulkars double century and Ricky Ponting's double centuries.

thank you

by ravi kanth on Jan 03, 2004 12:55 AM  | Hide replies

Hey, I was wondering if you could help me with this.

How many test's did it take

Sunny, Allan Border, Steve Waugh to get to their 10,000th run.

Just wondering how far away is sachin from making the quickest 10,000th.

Thanks,
Ravi

It doesnt matter how far Sachin is from being the fastest to 10000 runs. Whatever mark he sets will be broken by RICKY PONTING. And if Matthew Hayden plays for a few more years (since he had a late start in his career), then the fight is between those two players for the fastest to 10,000 and that record should last a long long time!

check cricinfo.com for stats guru. there u can find who is the fastest to get 10000 run mark.
tendulkar would obviously be the fastest as he has more matches to play. gavaskar took 121 matches to get 10000. tendulkar is palying 111 match and is around 9200. so he will get pass 10000 within 116 matches.

Memories Of Another Melbourne

One fascinating aspect of the Melbourne Test was missing in the "Memories" of Another Melbourne
Greg Chappell was at his peak of performance.
However, his dismissal for a first ball duck was from an unbelievably memorable delivery from Karsan Ghavri down the leg side that was left by the batsman for the keeper to collect.
The captain looked aghast when his stumps were shattered after the sharp turn of the cherry.
The dismissal contributed to the nerves of Aussies who were defeated the next day.

Laxman as Opener in One Days
by chakradhar on Jan 02, 2004 07:12 PM  | Hide replies

VVS Laxman should be persued to open the One day games in the place of Dinesh Mongia.
The following points favour the above argument
1. Has Good Defence, if not the best.
2. Good timer of ball, which is necessary to penetrate the offencive field setting during first 15 overs.
3. A bit poor runner(compared to others) which is detrimental during final phases of matches esp. when chasing
I hope my veiw point will be given due consideration for comming tri series match in Australia

Opening slot in either version of Cricket is 'like medicine to a baby' to Laxman. Although he is tenacious player with good eye and good technique, it is hard for him to open the innings when the ball is in shine (not only for him, and he is not good at clearing the fields with lofted shots as Sachin and Shewag do). In the team's interest he can play at No. 3 or No. 4 position. Running between the wickets, many Indian batsmen are not good at it except Azhar and Robin Singh. So he (Laxman) can't be blamed.

I am sorry!

Dinesh Mongia has got also good capability to hit the ball around, but only need is to be patient. and one more thing is the Left-hand & roght-hand combination. As Sehwag has been a devaster against the opposition, Mongia cal help to rotate the strike and give trouble to Bowlers.

About Laxman, he is also fit to the order, but depends the situation. He can beat especially Australia at any time, because he has been a killer against Australian bowling.

I just think in this way.

Thanks

Dillip
