It is indeed amusing and ironical to read that Srinath is tipped to be India's bowling coach. For almost his entire career, except for the last one year of his playing days, he had specialised in the art of bowling short and wide on both sides of the wicket. He must hold the record for harmlessly passing the edge of the bastsman's bat the most times by any bowler. Only in the last year did he learn the virtues of bowling upto the batsmen and giving more time for the ball to do something. Even this he forgot in the final of the World Cup 2003, when his performance was most pathetic for a person with his experience. People's memories are indeed short.
