Pathan can't scare us -by- Javed Miyandad
by Capt.P.C.Joshi on Feb 26, 2004 11:13 AM

Miadad comment that there are many Irfan Patans in many Mohallas and gallis of Pakistan is completly unexpected of a player of his caliber. The series is not very far and time will only tell who is the real tiger. Before Australia tour Indian were totally underestimated but they proved their mettle undoutedely. So Mr.Miyandad wait.

As statement given by Former Captain and present Coach

Mr.Javed Miandad of Pakistan Cricket Team. In this

connection, I would like to mention few words that

Irphan is a quality bowler. Moreover, he has to

concentrate more in the yorker level bowling attack,

definitely he will succeed.

Thanks

Daniel

Miandad IS scared of Pathan!
by Bond on Feb 26, 2004 10:45 AM

What can u say about the Pakistani coach's comments. Indeed he is scared of Pathan. What was the need of this comment about a rookie who has just played is first test series!. This wouldnt have come out unless he tought that Pathan was a good enough to be scared about. This is actually a compliment from the Pakis. Pathan on only his second tour has got the opponents thinking about him!! Great Job Irfy keep going

Miandad's interview

It appears that Javed is shooting off his mouth once again. The Indians too can do it.Any way as the saying goes " ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS".My only worry is the Pakistanis are already at nets and are serious about it.We should also start training immediatly at least the cricketers who are fit.All this talk of mental and physical fatigue in Australia is of no importance right now.We have to fight fire with fire.WE sshould be in the right frame of mind before embarking on this tour.ANyway to Pakistan it is like war but we d not think like that.It need not be thought like a war but preperations must start as a team.Otherwise They will be better prepared than we are

Soumitra
Miandad...
by Soumitra on Feb 26, 2004 09:34 AM

Javed Miandad represents exactly that strata of pakistani society who just wont give Indians their due when they deserve it. Australia was a place where teams have struggled and Indians did more than just scare the Autrailians. Indians also competed neck to neck with Aussies in one days till the last couple of matches. Javed reminds us that Pakis did beat Kiwis in Tests, but he so very conviniently forgets that they got their bottoms kicked in ODIs. Well all these statements of Javed are basically to gain some mental edge over the Indians. It would have worked with Indian teams of the past. This team is Different with a capital D. Saurav Ganguly is definitely one of the best skippers in the business and the entire team stands united behind their beloved DADA, which is so reverse of the situation in Paki camp. Javed also seems to have very short memories. IT was some one year back on a wanderer's magnificent track, did Sachin gave a thrashing of lifetime to all the shoaibs, wasims and waqars. Javed would do well to mind his business and get on with the game. This Indian team plays hard cricket and if he thinks he can disturb them with his comments,he cant be more wrong.

Indo-Pak Tour

Much as I hate Javed Miandad, I would agree with him for once. during his playing days Javed had a typical streetfighter's instincts to go with his cockiness. The wily old fox was truly a handful for most teams especially ours. One sixer from him demoralised and took it out of Indian teams for ONE FULL DECADE.

Sachin, Sourav, Jammy, VVS and Sehwag need to practise well against pace by asking local medium pacers to bowl from 14 yards at the nets. They also need to practise really well against yorkers - for they are going to get a lot of those toecrushers from shoaib and sami.

the ball - old and new - is going to swing like crazy.

ALL SAID AND DONE, if there ever was one Indian team which has the chance to beat the Pakis on their own turf, it is THIS TEAM led by Maharaj.

Sourav Ganguly himself is no less a fighter than Miandad was. Sourav will lead India to victory in Pakistan - both in the test series and one day series.

the words of javed are pragmatic and realistic. India has one of the weakest bowling attacks in the world. Pakistan boasts of much better attack and the likes of Irfan Pathan are found in plenty.

Have you personally been to Pak and seen bowlers of the caliber of Irfan playing in the streets. Please dont talk rubbish. But if you are adamant keep the talk to yourself. Dont post your messages.!!!!!

Miandad is right about Irfan, infact all our pace bowlers have a long way to go. He did take a few wickets but was clobbered all over the ground at an average of 8 runs per over. Clearly, the Pakis have an edge in the bowling department. But our batsmen will more than make up for our average bowlers.
