Excuse for terrorism ?
by KD on Feb 23, 2004 06:33 AM

Kapil Dev was the greatest cricketer we ever had. He definitely isnt the most shrewd sports analyst we have. If he thinks that the Pak govt is not responsible for violence against visiting teams by 'one or two' citizens, he should think longer until he comes up with something that the world can digest.
According to all the sane people in this world, Pakistan is the biggest production house for terrorists and nuclear proliferators in recent times, if not in history. The govt is squarely responsible for violent acts on its soil, just like the Indian govt should be held responsible for letting Ahmedabad riots happen.

The people of India and Pakistan are extremely human with plenty of goodness at heart !
by Dr. Cajetan Coelho on Feb 21, 2004 12:07 PM

It is a great opportunity for all of us to think well and in a positive manner about the people of these two great neighbours. We hope that our media gives prominence to the good things on either side and help the people to look at the positive side of life. We have arrived at a stage and from now on we can only improve and go further in goodness, warmth, trust and mutual respect. It is nice of Kapil to remind all of us what we all can do to better our ties. Let us wish well for all of us.

cliched remarks
by anand on Feb 20, 2004 11:55 AM

Kapil's remarks are comments familiar and remind one of the Hindi-Chini bhai bhai days. It makes a mockery and seems to be an eyewash! We deliberately chose to ignore warning signs from an untrustworthy neighbour (China) and went on singing praises in favour of the great rleationship shared with them. Our desi socialist spin doctors went into a tizzy speaking and writing of the glorious relations with China in the past, and then, all of a sudden the war happened and we took a heavy beating!! If only we are rational this time and cut out the Paki-India bhai bhai tune.

I have nothing but respect and admiration for Kapil Dev, the cricketer. But his opinions on matters outside of the cricket field are turning out to be inconsistent over time. Is this the same Kapil Dev that used the media to declare, back around May/June of 1999, that all cricket between India and Pakistan be scrapped which in turn got whipped up into a national frenzy by our MPs and MLAs ?
Suddenly, it's the media's fault ? Please Mr. Nikhanj, you need to make up your mind as to where you really stand on this.
