Irfan: Reprimanded and BCCI
by Arman on Feb 10, 2004 08:42 AM

Biggest Concern:
Why BCCI is not taking any step regarding UNFAIR judgement calls against Indian team. (aka Ganguly - B Williams incident)

PS: World Cricket needs Indian cricket team adn it's not the other way round

As die hard fan, I am really upset at "ALL" important umpiring decision went against India even in this successful Indian tour to Australia.

To start with: Sachin was given out LBW when ball mile high the stumps
To end with: LBW appeal by Murali where replay clearly showed batsman out was given not out

My Note: Why we Asian cricket team has to suffer or at the receiving end - to teams like - Aus, .....

Conclusion: Due to incident like this I may just following national cricket.

Martyn does it, its not sledging Pathan does it , its sledging
by Rupak Ramachandran on Feb 09, 2004 05:21 PM

Thats jus so cool man. They charge pathan for taking a step in a direction that was un-sportsman like when the very decision to reprimand him was unfair conisdering wat Martyn did after he hit Pathan for a four on the first ball he faced?!?!..
Oh well that was nothing at all rite.. staring down the throat of a 19 year old and lifting the helmet standing less than a feet away from him.. as if trying to say am gonna beat the hell outta yu kido!thats not even counted as unfair intimidation!
Now clive lloyd thinks thats absolutely fair... by the way guys did people forget about bucknor and his mocking Dravid about the ball tampering thingy.. or was it ok to jus forget it coz an Indian was the one who complained!?!..

Unprovoked??
by Jitendra Lokre on Feb 09, 2004 01:47 PM

No doubt, the match referree will probably end up fining young Irfan Pathan part of his match fee or something. But considering that Irfan is a cricketer born and brought up in India, it is highly unlikely that his (undesirable) greeting to Martyn was wholly unprovoked. I would suspect that the Pathan had probably faced some viciuos sledging from the Australian players earlier and was only taking a chance to get back at them.

Nonetheless, I hope he learns his lesson and does not repeat this. We Indians need not mimic all the unpleasant aspects of Australian cricket. Let us, instead, learn the good things from them, eg. how they are so successful as a team!

Match Referee
by Anil Dasari on Feb 09, 2004 11:59 AM

The media is biased in reporting such minor issues... there is no mention of Brad Willaims anywhere... nor about the wrong decisions of the field umpires... Australia won the match playing 13 players not 11 (11 players + 2 field umpires)... No it is not a case of sour grapes... The Australians were no doubt BETTER than the Indians... but their (umpires) wrong decisions made them appear TOO GOOD... I think there needs to be some sort of a mechanism where the umpires should be fined a percentage of their match fees for each wrong decision they make...

Irfan Pathan reprimanded what about symonds
by Dennis on Feb 09, 2004 11:58 AM

'Irfan Pathan being reprimanded'had to happen and the moment he did that funny jesture, I was sure this was to come. And the other thing that was quite obvious was that Symonds was not reprimanded after what was done during the runout of Badani. Even the third Umpire was in a hurry to give the Indian out. Not that India were in a good position but Cricket the game was in jeopardy, nothing came out of it. Sunil Gavaskar has been commenting on the issue all through the day but with no result. When is the ICC and if not BCCI come up and get these things right. Will our players be targetted everytime. Just want to know, anyone has a answer.

Thats the way : Irfan
by rajiv on Feb 09, 2004 11:43 AM

Good to see someone so young and so aggressive. Irfan is just paying back on behalf of the Indians who have been at the receiving end till now. He needs Ganguly's support in this.

As expected, the 'Blind to Australians' ICC has reprimanded him.

Way to go Irfan. Keep it up.
