Hi
My discussion is about tendulkar. The Best batsmen has performed continously well till now right from the start of his carrier. If someone ask can u name few innings in ODI's of him u say of sharjah and 98 recently in pakistan and some few more innings. what happened to tendulkar now? Has he lost his magical touch or he wants to stay till the end. if he wants to stay till end he is ruining is game. opposition fears from him when he is at his demolishing best. what do u think of it

India biggest chokers:gavaskar

Hi,
To comment about the current Indian team, it's not necessary that Gavaskar should have made some great one-day contributions himself. By that same logic, what have people who are commenting on Gavaskar achieved? We all say diferent things about our cricket teams. So is Gavaskar. If someone don't like it, it's their choice. But we don't have any rights to talk about Gavaskar that way. Even I don't like what he said. But i won't ask him what has he done for Indian cricket. That's all

India Chokers ??
by KSM Sundaram on Feb 10, 2004 04:15 PM

It is highly laughable that such words should come from Sunil Manohar Gavaskar - someone who always played for himself, someone who has the dubious distinction of remaining 36 not out in 60 overs in the 1975 world cup.

Gavaskar himself has failed in many many crunch situations. For those people who go ga ga over the fact that Gavaskar has 13 centuries against the Windies - 7 abroad and 6 at home please take a look at the following facts

Out of his 7 centuries in the caribbean 4 have come at Port of Spain (spinners paradise. Of his 3 tours to the caribbean he scored 4 centuries in his first series in 70-71 when there were no pace bowlers. Also of his 6 centuries at home , 4 came in the 78-79 series in a Windies side depleted due to the Kerry Packer revolution.

Gavaskar has absolutely no right to criticise Sourav Ganguly's team. India has acquired more respect as a cricketing team during Sourav's 3 year reign than under all former captains put together.

Gavaskar Loser !!!

Any person who bats for 60 overs and scores 36 not out when his team is chasing 334 has no right to criticise others. Gavaskar may be a great opening batsem but thats in Tests, in one day cricket he was just another average player, remember in the 1983 world Cuo gavaskars contribution was only 41 runs in the entire tournament . Also the term chokers applies to teams that are close to victory and suddenly lose their nerve. when you are chasing 360 and u get bowled out for 151 doesnt mean u choked, in that case bangladesh would be the biggest chokers hehehe. I hope they have people who were one day stars as commentators for one day matches. Its so amusing to watch these guys say "he shouldve done this...he shouldve not gone for that shot...etc when they themselves couldnt do much when they had a chance .Jai Hind

Who doesn't choke ?

Everybody chokes under pressure. Atleast once in their lives. Even Mr.Gavaskar would admit that. The great ones overcome this barrier...I think he ( Mr.Gavaskar ) did. So did Aus...

India. You can do it too. Believe that. At this point that #1 spot may look far away, but, to reach that #1 spot and stay there, you need just a change of game plan.

Mr.Ganguly, Think of yourself as a batsman at the top of the order. Whats up with this body line stuff ? Correct your stance and tell some kids in calcutta to get on to you with that line. I am confident you will overcome that. A few tips ?
1.Dont try do too many things in the field. Too many tips/encouragement/aggression in the field will distract a bowler.
2.Everybody should know before the match what line and length should be bowled in a ODI.
3.Should we use a regular WK in the one dayers ? We give away lot of runs in that area.
4.You should try Mr.Sachin as a regular bowling option. He has got variety and wicket taking ability.
5.The Batting Strategy should be run-a-ball in ODIs. One 4 in a over too. The match situation does not matter.

We need to win the ICC Cup and the Pak series(Loc?). Can we do it ? YES. Ofcourse..

Gavaskar is wrong

I think that SMG is being too critical of the Indian cricket team. True, we did not fare well in the last few games, but we should have expected that. We are not on par with the current Aussies team in terms of cricketing abilities.
If we break down both teams, we will get a better picture(for the onedayers):
1. Bowling: THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR! Aussies were without McGrath and Warne. Both of them are world-class and Aussies missed them definitely at certain junctures during the series. However, the Indian were without Zaheer, and Harbhajan. In the finals, the Aussies were firing in this compartment, while India lost Kumble, and Agarkar. Pathan, Balaji, Nehra and Kartik(did we envision this bowling lineup in November?) are no match for Lee, Gillespie, Williams and Harvey.
2. Fielding: India has gotten better with the youth movement but are not in the same league as the Aussies in terms of athletism and professionalism.
3. Team Strategies: Aussies tried all summer to find and expose the weakness in the Indian lineup. They were finally able to find some weakness and exposed them in the final few games. India was very poor in this regard.

Dear Mr. Sunil Gavaskar, what are you?you aren't even qualified enough to choke in the final. How many runs did you make in world cup fibal 1983?How many runs did you make in world cup semifinal 1987?Oh sorry , I forgot, you wanted to ruin Kapils captaincy, because you play for yourself, not for the country. You may have scored a number of hundreds in test cricket, but remember, you played the most disgusting innings in oneday cricket history, 36 runs in 60 overs..!!..Plese stop talking abt current Indian team and one day cricket. What do you know abt one day cricket?nothing. You can sit in the commentary box and make comments, thats all you can do .Please shut up.
