Poor Captaincy

First of all, I did not understand why we opted to bat. We have some good bowlers who can take advantage of the first 6-over-baller-supporting conditions. That means we could have restricted run-flow in those overs frustating the Gilly and might have worked against him. Or even if he had kept cooled we could have used the pressure from first 6 0r so overs to give confidence to the opening ballers who would have continued better balling atleast for their first spell which could have been extended to 7-6 over-spell or even 8-7-over spell to ensure that the flying start is avoided for Aussies. Then, it would have been a perfect platform for the change ballers and they could have done the rest.

Let say we went counting on our best-the batting. Now after 3 early wickets it would have be smart to keep wickets intact and send cool-headed Badani ahead to Yuvraj and Ganguly. Also, we need either of those two in slog overs. BAdani is an excellent player of middle overs, but not the slog overs.(It really never cross my mind why he plays at seven. Once Yuvraj stroke, does not meann he will always) ANd once the repair is done, likes of Yuvraj, Ganguly. Agarkar can rip off the fifth baller.
