It was indeed heartning to note that australian crickters are doing their bit to help tsunami victims all over asia.
But what to say about their indian counterparts ??Eventhough their own countrymen are suffering, media has hardly reported any concerns shown by our own crickters and cricket board which is supposed to be richest in world.
Probably all are too busy preparing for New Year Eve. Or may be all stars have grown too big to spare some concerns/time for those very countrymen who have made them such big stars.
Well done Aussie's Crickter's infact even in the pat we have observed that you ar always at forfront for such charitable works.I hope others would follow you soon so as to help the real needy persons .Keep it up dear crickters
dear sir, whats wring with indian cricketers? why no one is responding? shame! you cricketers having played at bangaldesh particularly the last onedayer! you fellowa have no concern for your brothers and sisters! all of you should be snet to siberia
The Auzzies are at it again, proving that they are one up over the Indian team in each and every department, the latest one being Philanthropy... or should it even be called that? Its more of basic humanity than anything else. Seems like such gestures of humanity are too much to expect from Team India which reeks of vulgar amounts of wealth. Despite the massive scale of the tragedy back home, the team has done nothing more than the "silence-and-black-band" routine. Not that i mean to disrespect tht gesture, just that it is too little in the context. Surely, people who earn millions every year (they get paid over a lakh per ODI, i hear), can donate a few lakhs for their fellow countrymen. And as has been the case, we might have our reluctant donors "raising" funds by auctioning sweaty shirts and smelly socks. Or maybe an even bigger gesture-a charity match. But no way would they shell out a penny from their pockets. There are advocates of individual freedom who argue that Charity is an act of individual discretion. Alright ! we wont force you to shell out your hard-earned money. But you sure are forcing us to question your values and character.
Ain't it a shame that the Indian team and the BCCI has done sweet nothing as yet. Why, even Maria Sharapova, who does not belong to any of the affected countries has given 10000 USD.
Our guys will probably give a bat ( taking the cue from Tendulkar who did it for the Marathi movie Shwaas's Oscar campaign). The bat will then be auctioned in a gala dinner/ event with celebrities schmoozing, flashbulbs clicking, event managers and PR agencies will scramble to get the function covered on Page 3 and Night Out on NDTV!! Why, even Amitabh Bachchan made a song and dance when he gave a few lakhs to the Shwaas campaign.
Even alleged gentlemen like Dravid who seems to have some humility have not come forward to help. Shame on you guys. Revered by the countrymen, accorded iconic status, but mighty selfish and bereft of apathy. Not only do you guys have to learn to play like the Aussies, but also learn a few lessons in grace and charity.
Really Shame on Indian Team!!! They made us feel happy by winning in another foreign soil. But it would have really happy when any of the richest player could donate a single pi to the Tsunami affected victims and their relatives...
Really they have learn many things from Australians... Humainity also....?
I wonder when was the last time our cricketing heros tried to reach out the needy. Same is true for BCCI which is probably richest cricketing body in the world. They need to learn a lot from australians.
