India-Bangadesh Tie
by T.P. Viswanathan on Dec 23, 2004 10:59 PM

Sheer providence saved India from a ignoble defeat at the hands of the lowly placed Bangladesh, who richly deserved a win today.

How does one define an Accomplished Player? Is it by the number of years played or age or accomplishment in international cricket?

Accomplished player is one who is capable of adapting himself to any type of bowling and pitch condition. One who scores lot of runs on a wicket which is tailor made for him, but miserably fails if the pitch is even slightly different, does not deserve to be bracketed in this category.

See today's play. Except Rahul Dravid, the other senior players, who are on paper tigers, failed to negotgiate the bowling of Bangladesh, who did not produce anything extraordinary but only stuck to their line and length. They bowled to the field and fielders did their job excellently. Our overconfident players failed to adapt to the pitch and play their natural game. How come these people get the so called "A" classification and attendant matach fees! This is where performance based cricket comes to play. Those who score when bowling is friendly or when the pitch is easy pased do not deserve to be

Bangladesh gave a good account of themselves !
by Dr.Cajetan Coelho on Dec 23, 2004 08:16 PM

This Dave Whatmore trained Bangladesh team is shaping well. Their two batsmen with half centuries and their good controlled bowling posed some decent challenge to Saurav and his men. The first ODI was well fought. We look forward to further improvement from this courageous Team Bangladesh !

Why no news on Womens Cricket?
by Amol Vaidya on Dec 23, 2004 05:09 PM

It is sad to believe that there is no news, updates of womens cricket in India. As there is a series going on between India & Australia, it is hard to believe that most of the TV channels are covering the updates. Now i would like sites like Rediff to update the details of womens cricket as it is coming of age in India. I dont think that India V/s Bangladesh series should be given that much of importance. Does It???
