No doubts the Courts are there for settling Disputes. Does this mean any stupid dispute taken to Court under the Disguise of PUBLIC Interest has to be dealt with by the Courts.

In this particular instance an ex Player took the matter to Court saying the Indo Bangladesh Series should be shown on the 'National' Channel! Fair enough if the judgement says Yes it should be shown on the terrestrial broadcast. But where is the logic in telling that the revenue of the Party who has taken the Rights at a pre termined rate (the bid was made & won before the case) should be 'shared' with DD? If these matters are of national interest then they should be treated at par with such broadcasts like the Republic Day Parade, No concern for revenue.

If ESPN has taken the bookings for Ads prior to the 'ruling' they don't even have a chance to increase the 'rates' saying the Advertiser now gets a better 'reach' to the products.

Can some one throw some light on this?
