so what we miserably lost all of the last few finals, so what if even a demoralized & demotivated paki team came close to winning the 5test ODI series, so what if in any of the recent matches sachin couldn't contribute a match-winning game with his bat, so what if he struggles to bat even when there are field restrictions, so what if being the seniormost player fails to see us thru in crucial matches ... his total runs, his total no.of centuries and his dedication for the game is good enough for indians. above all, we can take pride on the fact that EVEN barry richards agrees ... "sachin is the best".
It is a pleasant surprise to see Barry Richards considering Sachin as the #1 batsman in the world. It might be recalled that apart from the Pakistanis like Wasim & Imran, Barry is the other big name in cricket who never really believed that Sachin is consistent enough on bouncy tracks or tracks that have assistance to pacers. Apart from that, the other thing is that it is quite obvious that Sachin is currently not the best batsman in the world, mainly because he is in a transition mode from being a very attacking player to someone who is more of a consistent run-scorer. If things work out for him, I feel that once he gets outs of this transition mode, he will become the world's most consistent batsman along the lines of Rahul 'The Wall' Dravid. I think that the days of Sachin as a purely attacking batsman are over. It is interesting that only Ian Chappell seems to be talking in terms of this transition theory, while other commentrators still think it is just that Sachin is in a bad patch.
C'mon, wake up everyone. "The best batsman" mantle has to be worn by someone who has won a few matches for his country on the strength of his bat alone. I don't think Sachin comes anywhere near that title.
Its time we stopped fooling ourselves. Almost all our greatest wins have come without Sachin contributing with the bat.
Star Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar has put in over a decade and half years of hard disciplined work. Such success earned through years of serious commitment cannot be easily wiped out all of a sudden. Sachin is still the best and he will continue to be so till some one can come up with dedication and application which is as good as Sachin's and can last that many years of hard cricket at the top level facing the best bowlers of the time. Long live Sachin !
Barry is absolutely right. Sachin is the only player whose star always will be shining. He is evergreen player. Everytime he doesn't need to show his ability.
Mr Barry Richards will b better if he keeps quiet rather than talking .I remember him saying that Lara, and a couple of other players were better than Sachin.I wonder how these people change their mind so frequently.I am happy atleast that richards has realised now that tendulkar is a better player than lara,in both batting and on field behaviour.[ i hope he knows lara's mannerisms on the field.]
