Indian Cricket - we need a new captain
by Manakkal J.Raman on Aug 24, 2004 04:40 PM

During India-Australia match, it was very evident that Rahul Dravid is not meant to be a wicket keeper at all. He missed atleast two sitters and was fumbling to gather the ball. But to the surprise of the whole world, our captain does not think so. He would rather stick with an unwilling Dravid for wicket keeping rather than trying out Dinesh Kartick who was readily available. Ganguly will not accept that his theory of persisting with Dravid is wrong. But in the process an youngster is denied his opportunity - rather his well deserved privilege - to don the gloves for India. And we shall continue to lose matches just to bolster the ego of our captain, who is pampered by the BCCI also.

inconsistent indians
by vijayakumar on Aug 24, 2004 03:39 PM

The indians are consistent in one thing. that is inconsistent. It is time for the team management to try out a regular wicket keeper with the one provided by the selectors. In the match againist australlia, rahul dravid's wicket keeping was so pathetic. The indian captain should ask himself whether he is consistent enough before expecting the same from his team mates. Barring a few, none of our cricketers have the passion and dedication towards the game.

Cricket fans, don't worry. Our team will win at least a few matches - against Bangladesh and Kenya for sure. All our tigers - Sachin, Sehwag, Ganguly, Dravid and Laxman will come out blazing against and only against these two teams. Against other teams, they anyway wet their pants.

Selectors should think
by Nandu on Aug 23, 2004 11:03 PM

Every time the same combination of players dont work out, I think the selectors and coach should now give chance to newcomers especially genuine llrounders,Let some seniors rest.its time for everyone to realise that India is depending more on one Tendulkar, one Dravid, one Sehvag, Everytime they cant create magic, others have to do something.recude going behind Advertisement and use that time for fielding practice.

V.V.S Laxman and Virendra Shewag should be droped for at least one series so that they have a realisation that continious performance and not the past performance is the crieteria for the playing eleven.

Ganguly ; Today's match with Australia
by Satyam on Aug 23, 2004 10:19 PM

Regarding today (23rd)'s match with Australia. Lucky that rain stopped another humiliating defeat.
For some unknown reason, Pathan seemed to lose his magic touch - while Balaji gained his. It looks like Indian team will never be lucky to all bowlers in form.
Given that Balaji is showing tremendous form, normally you'd expect him to bowl the maximum, and also the crucial last over.
But a match is never normal with our captain. He always surprises common logic. Despite the success, Balaji bowled as many as Sehwag. One less than Pathan and Kumble. During the trailing overs, when Clarke is in full swing, blasting us left and right, Nehra and Pathan were tried but not Balaji. Towards the end, Balaji bowled the penultimate, bowled well, gave 5 runs and took a wicket. With Pathan bowling the last over.
Isn't it time for us to look for a new captain - who just thinks normal!
