inspite of having the most talented players on this mother earth, it is a mystery how we manage to lose all the finals in the past three years. well one victory is nothing great. y cant we perform more consistently. maybe mathew haydens statement that subcontinent players are selfish is actually the cruel truth. god only save the plight of indian cricket as far as victory is concerned, well financially they are getting good SAHARA from their endorsements.
Our great team dont do a proper situational analysis of match. Asia cup finals, inspite of knowing Lankan tracks very well, they still ignored the first 15 over requirement. No batsman is capable of easy gear shift depending on situations, too much into classical mode. No change in tactics upon change in situation. End of last season, we looked like team with good bench strength, but after 6 matches, it seems we dont even have good playing 11. Learnings not used in matches. Forget not only the claim to be 2nd best, if batsmen-bowlers and their tactics continues in the same form we will become the second worst of 7 recognized test teams.
I'm seriously reconsidering my options now after India's last 2 tremendously dismal performances (Asia Cup final & this one). Are these our professional batsmen who are paid sky high rewards for playing for India! I bet almost everyone watching these "batsmen's" pitiful bat swings at the ball (and missing the ball completely most of the time) pondered on this question and wondered if he would have performed better. So, to avoid disappointment next time, I have decided that I'm going to support the other team next time. This would guarantee me a happy ending of the match and good mood for the rest of the day, which is what one expect spending a whole day watching his favourite team play. May I also request rediff not to display Indian cricket on the front page, thus creating an air of importance and hype that later results in disappointment for millions of people.
Dont mind losing a game when there are so many matches being played. After all every team needs to win few matches. Otherwise it will become like playing cricket with Australia.
But what hurts is the way India lost. No visible effort to win, no plan to build patnership, no zeal to pick singles. All that was there was to hit boundaries alone and try to become a hero for that day (and probaly get booked with two more advertisment companies). kaif had hardly played a couple of good knocks. With Kaif at No. 7 we are playing only 6 batsman and not 7. Get the new wicket keeper into playing 11. Anyone who knows to handle the bat properly can make a score of 10 and replace kaif sucessfully. To me kaif is one urgent replacement India need to make to say "we are playing 7 batsmen and putting pressure on Dravid" :) Rest proved themselves in the past and can be given few more chances. I guess each player shld have a ranking within India, and simply pick the top 7 batsmen and top 4 bowler straight away for any tour :))
If Jr. Parthiv Patel can be in the Indian Team for 2 years, then I sincerely ask Board to give me just 3 months time and I will show that I can be there in the team; if given the opportunity to prove myself. I can keep the wickets much better than this kid. Further I can be as good in the field as Yuvraj and Kaif. And I can be part time bowelr. Dont forget that i am a better hard hitting and sensible batsman too. ( this is not the over confidence, bt. the madness towards this game)I know i can do it because i love this game more than anything.
I know that i have not played even at Ranji or Junior level. Bt. i know that i can do it.
It was yet another below par performance by the Indian team,this time ,in amsterdam.Our players seem to rest so much on laurels and thats the reason for the big defeat.We cant claim that we r the2nd best in the world after losing 9wickets for 58runs!![being at 69/1,we were bowled out for 127].Its so disgusting that sehwag played so badly ,his foot seems 2b cemented when he plays a shot.He hardly moves his feet.We must look into this matter seriously,and coming 2 Kaif, he has hardly performed in recent times.Our much haunted batting line-up cant come a cropper every time like this.Ofcourse, we can agree that we were without Sachin,or Harbhajan or Nehra or Zaheer[who has been dropped],but cant these players give a fight?they played asthough they were plaing in their debut matches! I am seriously telling this, we must drop Sehwag and Kaif,give Dravid a breather frm keeping[he has not scored a doublefigure score since the last 4innings].My Indian team[11]is here... ganguly,dravid,yuvraj,laxman,gavaskar,badani[after he recovers frm injury],kumble,irfan,balaji,agarkar&nehra[as soon as he receovers frm fever].I think ganguly doesnt know that if 6bats cant do the job the 7th wont.
