Chandra, Venkatraghavan, Pras and Bishen were great spin artists. We marvelled at the way they mesmerised the batsmen and kept them tied in all sorts of knots. The spinners were assisted by some extraordinary close in fielding and catching specialists like the daring Eknath Solkar, Syed Abid Ali, Ajit Wadekar, Srinivas Venkatraghavan and others. Our BCCI could think of finding ways to reward the gallant fielders of the recent and remote past as well.
