Specialist Opener Chopra
by amarnath on Apr 14, 2004 10:05 PM

Chopra and Bangar both proved they can be good openers. Parthiv did well today. The team combination is okay and We should think of accommodating players in rotation basis as done by Australians.

Tendulkar form
by Rajan Varughese on Apr 14, 2004 05:37 PM

Tendulkar should take a brake from cricket for four months. He looks jaded.

Technique pays
by Atul Bhalerao on Apr 14, 2004 04:52 PM

Its proven again that on the pitches where technique matters more that records behind you , Dravid is always the master.

Sachin no doubt was a good batsman, but considering his bad form and his careless approach now a days, as he has earned a lot that what he deserves, he should be kept away for some time until he realises that cricket has made him what he is now.

Hope Indian selectors realise it as early as possible.

Regards

Atul

Axe Effect
by Sarvesh on Apr 14, 2004 02:16 PM

Probably the team management could have dared to drop Tendulkar instead of Chopra. Just for the sake of records building of an individual, the axe should not fall on the promising youngsters. The 2 down position is supposed to be one of the most reliable positions in batting lineup. The success rate of a 2 down batsman has to be quite high. We do agree that Tendulkar is a classic player but that should not be at the expense of team.

His performance in this series should make him realise that he doesnot have the authority to give public statements about being dissappointed at missing his double century. Why i feel so strongly is because this is the best chance we have to beat Pakistan in Pakistan. All the hardwork of the youngsters should be rewarded. That is how we can expect many more Yuvrajs, Kaifs, Balajis, Pathans.

There was time when only Tendulkar used to succeed and rest fo the players used to fail. But now rest of the players are giving their best and Tendulkar is just not giving them the minimal support(in batting).

Tendulkar: No value addition to the team as a batsman
by Rakesh D on Apr 14, 2004 01:56 PM

Is Tendulkar really valuable for the team ? Whenever it is required, in the recent past, he never clicked. When everything is already going good and pitch is as flat as in Multan he will come and make a century and make additions to his records and shows disappointment for not allowing him to make one more record. Shame on him. Players like Parthiv with lesser skill set showing lots of grit and determination. It is time for Sachin to self-examine because our system is not strong enough to drop him.
