Yes i totally agree with you sri, because nowadays umpire's dicisions are very very doubtful.I totally agree with you that a dicision of an umpire will win a match or loss a match to a team. The dicisions of umpires sometimes feel like they are doing it knowingly.
Much has been talked about the umpiring of Steve Bucknor. Personally, I've not been impressed by Bucknor's at all - especially in the last 2 series - India vs Australia and India vs Pakistan. But, in the past, Indians have not had much to complain about him. If I remember right, the last time he seemed controversial to Indians was when he refused to call the 3rd umpire for a run-out in SA. But, those were early days of 3rd umpires, and a lot of umpires erred not referring to third umpires..
Indians have to improve a lot on their "on field behavior" especially if they're to earn any respect from the umpires. Indians tend to appeal for just about everything, and that does not go well with lots of International umpires. Starting with Mongia, our wicket keepers have been too vociferous. We need to arrest this trend. In the past, if a Kapil or Hadlee appealed, the umpire really had very little to argue with that appeal. The Kumbles and Srinaths have been ridiculouly bad in appealing for lbws to balls hitting outside the leg. Until, we change our tendancy with appealing, we would continue finding faults with umpires. I can confidently say, Indians don't make umpires job any easier.
I agree entirely with Srinath. Keeping a camera in the closest alignment possible to the Stumps and showing a replay may have some meening to it. But this business of Hawk Eye and showing "Stimulated Trajectory" of the ball with no inputs to the computer regarding various parameters such as the impact with the ground at the point of contact etc. is nothing more than a Gimic. If the TVs concerned were to let us know how they vary the inputs regarding the 'line' of each ball with out any scope for 'judgemental error" the Hawk Eye story will become a COCK & BULL Story!!
Sir, Seeing the way Buckner is buckling under the pressure; yes we need young umpires. Inspite of poor umpiring and stong criticisim during Austalian test matches; ICC chose to send Buckner ONLY for the sensitive Indo Pak matches, only to show their EMPIRE?Was there any wisdom in their selection of Buckner for this series? The ICC Umpires too could undergo over all fitness tests prior to a match. One needs to take into account how Matchfit and Matchworthy the ICC umpires could be on a given day. From the cricketing community columnists, writers, commentators, coaches, doctors, psychologists, players and respective cricket boards should come forward to find out ways and means to SAVE and KEEP the Gentleman's Game ALIVE from the Deadly Finger !
Of course young umpires ave excellent vision & hearing power which certainly helps in giving right decesion during a test/one day match. Further,If any umpire is found biased against any team/player he should be removed from ICC panel immediately. Take the example of umpire Buckner who right from Australian tour giving wrong decisions against Indian team/player. Moreover he penalised heavily the Indian player for a particular behavior but refused to take any action against Australian team/player for same behavior. During second test match in Pakistan he repeated the same thing.
The behavior of match refree at second test at current Indo-Pak series should also be looked into. At prsent
