Preparation of pitches
by godwin on Apr 03, 2004 09:47 AM

The preparation of the pitches whether it's ONE dayer or TEST series should be left to ICC, without anybody bothering the curator whether its a host nation, management, or players from the sides.

Are there any set of rule how the pitches to be prepared made by the ICC? Or the curator shd take the condition into account and prepare picthes that will give the results.

fielding

forget batting , forget bowling how about pakistan fielding ??? they dropped 4/5 sitters which even if the track is seeming like a boomerang will not help you to win matches !!
improve things at your end first before blaming the poor curator !!

A good team is a team which can bat or bowl on any wickets provided that they are mentally strong as well. You can never blame the curator for having lost the match. In fact the opponents are going to bowl or bat in the same wicket. So what bothers the nature of Pitch. I agree that only to some extent these things do matter. Its all about team strategy and mental toughness that win u matches. It's really seen here that pakistani cricketers are no match to the Indians. I reckon the series would end up 2-0 for India. Faisal and Rediff team,

Please proof read your articles before you publish them. Faisal talks about three key points Atkinson wants to make but has written about only two of them. Where is the third point...??

Also later in the article Faisal writes "Atkinson's fury is perhaps understandable - following India's win in the one-day series and the even more remarkable win in the first Test of the three-day series,..." It should not be three-day series but three-match series.

Proof read your articles... don't make readers do it for you...

Hey Rahul,

While I DO understand your frustration in trying to ask the Rediff team to proof-read their articles before publishing them, I'd like to point out that they only made ONE error not TWO as you had mentioned.

The only error they had made was to refer to the Test Series as a "three day" event. Your remark about the first error of the Rediff team not mentioning the third point of the Atkinson's rebuttal is warranted. If you had the patience to read the ENTIRE article down to the very end, you would have discovered it yourself. I understand that you might not have had the patience to read it properly but have enough quams about the proof reading ability of the Rediff team and then whine about it.

The third point IS mentioned as follows, "Negating another rumor, Atkinson said he had flown down to Lahore on his own initiative, midway through the first Test, and that his trip there was not at the behest of anyone from the PCB."

After all, to "err is human"...On a side note, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK REDIFF! :)

coward? :o

I think this is too rough language by Atkinson to say captain of Pakistan team "coward". He can clear his side using better words also. Looks like something is there in the water there that makes everyone fight with each other! ;) Sachin-Dravid, Dravid-Ganguly, and now Atkinson - Inzy ! :o
