Eknath Solkar
by Dileep Naik on Apr 11, 2004 09:24 AM

Eknath Solkar was the best close in fielder world has ever seen. During those days there was no Television coverage hence the younger generation have not seen the way he used to stand at silly mid on or shortleg and the technique he used to adopt to get those wonderful catches.

Its surprising that the Board is not utilising his experince . He should be asked to train the youngsters in the art of close in fielding.I have had few occassions of talking to him on the subject and have found that his tips are really some thing that you can get out of coaching manuals.
Akash Chopra should go miles to meet Ekky and discuss this art. Board has no time for Cricket other wise they would have done enough to bring Senior Cricketers closer to the budding cricketers. The art of Spinners like Prasanna, Bedi & Chandrashekhar will be lost soon as we have of Subhash Gupte and C.S.Nayadu.

Akash CHopra or any other bright youngster ,dont wait for the Board just go and meet.

win against Pak
by Bipin Kumar on Apr 04, 2004 03:20 PM

Indian team under captaincy of Ganguly is performing very well since two years and it was authenticated by thier win over arch rivals.

It was completely a team effort which fetched Indian thier first ever win in pak soil.

This Indian team is a blend of exuberance of youth and experience one. on one hand experience players like Sachin and Dravid showing the way to youngsters then on the other hand the young players like sehwag, Pathan and many more areshouldering their responsibilties and performing out of their skin.

so the 2nd test is goiing to commence in less than 24 hours time i am sure the Indian team will again emerge victorius.

So all the best to our team.

India`s victory-Comments
by Yadurajan on Apr 02, 2004 10:25 AM  | Hide replies

I read with interest both Wadekar and Borde`s comments. Why have not they mentioned Kumble`s contribution? Is he not a Mumbaiker? Yes in the absence of Harbhajan Kumble took the responsibility of shouldering the bowling and how well he bowled on a placid track. Mind you it is not easy to prise out these asian batsmen who play spin very well. It is unfortunate the socalled `greats` do not recognise the effort of Kumble.

Hats Off to Indian Team
by Sanjeev Kumar on Apr 02, 2004 08:08 AM

Hats off to the Indian Team. They have played well despite media's critisism. They can keep their positive attitude and go on as a team. Sachin missing his double century is not a issue at all and so media should stop making it a issue.

Why is there so much consternation about Sachin
by Lijoe Antony on Apr 02, 2004 03:25 AM

Hi,
Too much criticism is being put forth about Sachin's remarks. He too is only human and its not everyday that you get to score a double century. When a double hundred is 6 runs away and probably just a couple of overs away, any batsmen will feel the selfish need of reaching that landmark, especially when nothing can go wrong for that time. Dravid took a decision for the best of the team.Sachin accepted it but he has every right to feel sad, since it was just a 6 run deficit. Please stop criticising his actions, just because we no longer depend on his form for our sucess. This is not the indian spirit. If other indian batsmen started performing, there was only this person who in the past 14 years amassed this name, wealth of runs and clean records and even today doesnt slacken in the field even when he has to field at the boundary. New comers like Laxman cannot even field half as good as Tendulkar, he has to be a slip fielder only!
