by Umasutarao Chodavarapu on Sep 28, 2003 05:52 PM

Sir,
If a cricketer who made epic 281 the highest against Aussis and converted a defat into a win,is not a certainity, who else can be included in the test squad? Of course one day game is a different ball (white!) game!!

Do not worry Laxman
by Purushotham V on Sep 27, 2003 11:59 AM

Dear Laxman,

You need not worry for not getting a place in the world cup squad. Ganguly and the board memebers do not deserve the world cup (that is the reason for your exclusion). I bet that if you were in the squad, India would have lifted the World Cup.

Of course, you can aim for the Capataincy of Indian Team and I wish you good luck.

Laxman getting depressed
by Shiva on Sep 27, 2003 11:05 AM

Laxman is bound to get depressed. Infact any one else would have left and long forgotten. One wonders how many great cricketers we lost due to the selectors indiscretions. One also wonders how Laxman is taking the body blow of playing under Virendar Sehwag. In the first place as far as Tests are concerned Laxman was the second highest score in 2002-2003, but one wonders why he is asked to prove himself repeatedly. The Irani trophy innings clearly demonstrated Laxmans class, calibre &greatness.

Flashes of performance
by Sriram on Sep 27, 2003 06:18 AM

Laxman is more than a flash in the pan: he has produced
some scintillating innings in the past. But his
consistency is one of the worst. I hope he realizes
that and doesn't kid himself into thinking that the
selectors omitted him from the team in spite of his
performances.

VVS should be a part of Test Team
by Vijay on Sep 27, 2003 02:08 AM

VVS should be a part of Test Team ,may not be for ODI.

He has been clear and performed in his middle order position...he shouldn't open and he has made his point ....But certain people like Sehwag still want to experiment with the opener slot....TEAM MANAGEMENT shouldn't allow that to happen.

Use two good young players as openers like Gambhir,Jaffer,SSDas,Akash......

Laxman has got all his calculations wrong
by nandu on Sep 27, 2003 02:02 AM

The reason why Laxman is generally ignored when it comes to ODI's are
a) He's not a great fielder
b) He's on/off when taking catches. i.e. excellent catches sometimes but drops sitters too.
c) He's bad when running between wickets. Has got Tendulkar out couple of times due to his conservative attitude.

He got a chance in the Windies series because Tendulkar was not available. He scored all the runs but we still ended losers. Only one match he scored 60 odd runs and we won but Dravid was the guiding force in the match. Again he scored these runs against Windies who didn't have good bowlers on flat tracks when Sachin was not available and his good knocs weren't good enough to win matches.

So that's that. I am pretty sure that even Ganguly's does not think highly of him when it comes to ODI's else he would have found a spot in the World Cup Indian side.
