Congratulations to Rest of India team for winning the Irani trophy. The most notable performances from the new faces that were on trial in the challenger & Irani trophy have come from L Balaji & he must be rewarded with the India cap, in the absence of Ashish Nehra. Then, Rahul Dravid continues to battle on even as people continue to have some real nasty suggestions for the "good of Indian cricket" & this time they want Dravid to keep wickets in test matches, this is truly outrageous. Moreover this happens when he is openly asking to be releived of the 'keeping gloves even in the ODIs, please dont make such a mockery of the man's modesty. People have complained so much when batting orders were changed & here we have Dravid, who has been pushed around at no 6, no 3, no 5, no 4 & even the openers' slot. He was even asked to open in ODIs when we had a continued run of poor opening stands, where we were the people then, who now are so desperate to open the innings? Now just because we have not been able to find a good enough 'keeper we want him not only to continue in ODIs but also 'keep in the tests. Imagine asking that to somebody else???????
It is hard to believe mumbai were in control of game at end of day 3(ROI 55/2) with dravid, laxman, ganguly, yuvraj to come. at least 2/4 would do the job
Well, I am a big fan of Sachin as anyone else in INDIA but a big admirer of Dravid as well. If Sachin's presence had made a match of a FULL INDIAN TEAM(minus sachin) VS MUMBAI , then it was Dravid building his reputation as the GREAT WALL FOR INDIA . What i admire about this man is the simplicity and the way he has handled the pressure of Sachin's Fanfollowing in INDIA . I think KAMBLI , Manjrekar and many more just have missed being a DRAVID just because they were overpowered by SACHIN's following in this country ... Well If SAchin is a GOD in INDIAN Cricket then Dravid is certainly a BHISMA PITAMAH who holds the team every time he goes out. All the best DRAVID for a successful AUSTRALIAN Tour that is still eluding you!!!!!!.
Though there is no real comparison, the Dravid-Laxman partnership revives memories of the win against Australia! Still this was one of the most star-studded Irani trophy games in recent years, and also one of the most closely fought. Kudos to rediff for the coverage.
When eventually, Indian domestic competitions become truly World-class, it will be remembered that this portal played its role in helping that conversion come around.
Congrats to Rest of India team. This match underlines the batting skills of Rahul Dravid. He has proved time and again that he is a world class player.
