BEST CROP OF FAST BOWLERS EVER
by mohandas on Sep 16, 2003 04:57 PM

may be,this is the first time india got some quality fast bowlers(per indian standard)available at a time.but are they really good enough to the international scene?most of our players are showing good performances at the domestic circuit and total fiasco at the international level particularly when it comes to the crucial matches. our fast bowlers are no match to australian quickies .

Best ever?

Srinath is jumping the gun. What Srinath has said will be proven right or wrong only after the series in Australia later this year. Over the years only Kapil Dev and Srinath have proved themselves to be test/world class. Zaheer Khan has bowled well on occasions but has also suffered from too many injury problems. Ashish Nehra has yet to prove that he can be a match winner, the only exception being the one day match against England. Nehra is also injury prone like Zaheer. Agarkar has so far been a no show altogether. Balaji, Salvi, Pathan, Bhandari and Munaf Patel have not been tested at all. Everything looks great on paper but when it comes to actual performance in the field against competitive international teams it is a whole new ball game. So please stop this hype and first deliver in the field by letting your bowling do the talking.

i also agree that today there number of good fast bowlers in india.but consistancy is more important for every bowler.control over the swing is the top ...But I cann'y compare Zahir or Nehra to srinath..Srinath is great.we all miss him in this series.Similary Tendulkar is tendulkar. No other batsmen perform like tendulkar.

The way srinath spoke abt his collegue bowlers, clearly shows that he is really a great person....
Ofcourse the indian bowlers need a good moral and support from the other colleagues...

about the fast bowlers
by jithendra on Sep 13, 2003 08:06 PM

i agree that today there number of good fast bowlers in india.but consistancy is more important for every bowler.control over the swing is the top most qualification of a good fast bowler.our bowlers are very good, but they are not enough talented to bowl to batsmen like Gilchrist.at present irfan pathan is bowling very well.he had more control on swing than l.balaji.and also selectors give a permenant place for Agarkar.because after srinath he is only the well experienced bowler.he has the nack of wicket taking.i think there must be aseperate coach for bowling depertment.as per my concern there is only one internal reason for failure of bowlers at international stage, that is they feel very much tention about thier future place in the team.so that selectors must give reasonable time settltdown the bowler.then only he can play without tention.

crop of fast bowlers

I agree with Mr.Javagal Srinath that the present Indian fast bowling attack is good enough to beat Australia, but defenitely i would like to include Srinath in the line up. On the other hand i would like to say that the Indian bowling attack in the late 80s which included Mr Kapildev and company was the best ever that India has produced.

we don't need you srinath

While this present crop of fast bowlers may arguably be one of India's best ever as far as potential is concerned, not a single one of them is a big match player as was clearly evident when this same lot let the whole country down in the World Cup final. Spearheading that disastrous spell of fast bowling was Srinath himself who bowled atrociously when the youngsters were losing their cool. If he had used all his experience to just bowl line and length on that day maybe Zaheer and Nehra would also have settled down and we may have had a different result that day. Srinath your time to retire has come and please leave so that your place in the team can be taken up by a fresh talented pacer like Munaf Patel.
The time has come for bowlers to be mentally strong and the current young crop can be groomed to be just that but you cannot teach an old war horse like Srinath new tricks ao Srinath please retire and let Patel go to Australia instead. Thank you for your service to Indian cricket but don't need your experience.
