We need better pitches to find talent
by Gautam on Sep 14, 2003 07:51 PM

This is not a good way to find your future batsmen and bowlers. The pitch should offer some assistance to the bowlers. How can the batsmen face Sustralian bowlers in Australia on the fast bouncy tracks that offers movement?
Indian pitches should be made faster with help for movemment. This is the only way to find good seam bowlers and batsmen who can handle fast moving balls.
If not then it is going to be a "whitewash" in Australia, similar to the embarassing trashing by New Zealand.

Do they deserve a place in playing 11
by Davesh on Sep 14, 2003 01:47 PM

Introspecting the recent performance of few cricketers the question that comes to my mind is whether players like Dinesh Mongia,Anil Kumble & Mohammad Kaif really deserve a place in the final Indian team.None of the trio have any commendable performance over the last 12 months.Whereas Tendulkar,Ganguly,Dravid,Yuvraj Singh,Bhajji have been performing outstandingly in the last 1 year & its the performance of these few players which have brought glory to Indian Cricket.I think its high time now & selectors must take note of bad performance of Kumble,Mongia & Kaif.Anil Kumble is a pathetic fielder & his temperament on the field is also questionable. Mongia infact himself must be astonished to find him in the team inspite of doing nothing.Kaif is certainly out of form for quite a long period & at best his fielding has been fantastic but his batting is certainly lacking the touch. Its better to give chance to players like Gautam Gambhir ,Thilak Naidu,Sairaj Bahutule(genuine leg spinner) & Hemang Badani to prove their worth.

Good to watch Indian team back in action after doing
exceptionally well in the last world cup. In the forthcoming matches new upcoming players like Rohan
Gavaskar and Gambhir can be tried. Rohan Gavaskar is a big hitter of the ball,he can even replace tendulakar if required, such player should not be kept aside for long. hope indian selectors realise the importance of selecting the most deserved players
to maintain our teams reputation in the world cricket.

Wicket Keeper
by Preji.M on Sep 13, 2003 11:13 PM

This is with regard to the wicket keepers slot that is a question mark, but we can now find one prolific batsman cum wicket keeper Thilak Naidu.
I feel he is a man who could bring a stability to the team. Infact he should be given a chance in the upcoming series.

TVS N.K.P. Salve Challenger one day series.
by s. srinivasan on Sep 13, 2003 10:27 PM

So far three games have been played. I find one day cricket series played at home is all sub standard, what with bowling, batting and fielding have all been very ordinary. It is a pity that none of the new ball bowlers have impressed. There is continued emphasis on spin which had killed Indian cricket. After Amar singh and Nissar we had not had effective fast bowlers to threaten top class batsmen in world cricket. comparatively one day cricket matches played between English counties telecast by ESPN were more interesting and exciting to watch. DDSports telecast of the matches is of poor quality as usual and commentary made it even worse.

great batting

i am sure that the county experience must have been a great one for yuvraj and that may be one of the reasons why he appeared so relaxed and in prime touch today
