in the end what matters is "india win" whether v played with specialist keeper or not. v r not playing to keep the tradition, or to please the wicketkeeping community in india, v want india to play only to win. whether mr dravid likes it or not .his batting has improved trmendously in one dayers since he has become wicket keeper and india has been doing great since he has become wicket keeper. so stick with it. if india starts lossing matches bcoz of his wicket keeping abilities v can change da keeeper then. of course v shd hav a back up keeper.n for test matches. ratra and patel hav nt done nething tht ther predecessors did nt do, they r nt even close to mongia so high time tilak naidu[ so much takd about] get a chance n prove his point.
I think that this hype around a top class keeper arising from the three chosen to show off their skills during the challenger trophy is too much. In present day cricket the term "wicketkeeper" is who can keep well behind the stumps and get you runs consistently at a healthy strike rate batting in the lower order. If we get somebody like a Gilchrist, all the more better but I don't think we have someone of that calibre so we will have to make do with those in domestic cricket. Ratra, Patel, and Naidu have already been described in this article. What I want to know is where the hell is Vijay Dahiya? When he first played ODI's for India, I thought he did quite well and suddenly there was no sign of him. Who knows maybe he might not be a brahmin and hence is not on the selector's minds. Next is Nayan Mongia, who I feel is a very good keeper and an excellent batsmen but he seems to have been shunned off by the selectors for strange reasons, and Deep Das Gupta can only keep if cricket is played with a football. So analysing everything, we can say that Dravid is the best keeper we have in the country because he is a outstanding batsmen and can do the job with the gloves. So enough talk!!!
Its better to keep by Rahul Dravid in one day series. So that we can get one more all rounder or one batsman or one bowler. Rahul is doing well behind the stumps.
