KUDOS to Army chief General Sunderrajan Padmanabhan and Colonel M K Naik for coming out with such a sound scheme...It's brilliant...Infact If it had been coming out from some politician we would have disregarded it with another stunt of earning money but I think I believe in the conscience of ARMY and hope they keep up the spirit...
Maybe this gesture will bring out solutions to many other problems in our country like promoting education...maintaining healthy and hygenic conditions...infrastructure, housing for all, power problems and the list is long ...
Finally some Method in the Madness that is India. I hope that this is a sincere attempt at boosting the barely existing sports set-up in India and not another scheme to swindle money from the public coffers. From the article the Army does appear very focussed and real heartfelt wishes to those who are behind this project. While I am not an athelete or a sportsperson, sports has always given me great pleasure either watching or participating. Whether we win medals at Olympics or not (I sincerely hope we bag a handful and do some justice to the fact that we as a nation compose over 13% of the world population) I am sure it will instill some professional ethic within the sporting community in India and inspire the coming generations to atleast stay fit. This is a cause I would like to donate for and the Army should seriously consider setting up a fund where enthusiasts like me would be able to make some contributions.
I hope the Army also takes intiative in taking up social projects like drawig up sustainable schemes to providing drinking water both in the villages and even cities. I am sure a few pilot projects would inspire lot of others. Kudos to you and Keep it up!
I would like to say that the army is really doing a wonderful job but this is just the start ,the fruit is going to ripe only if all this is actually implemented on the groud level. Govt should take more interest in it and should promote the cause.

Interesting article. I suggest we make Physical fitness or excellence in sports as one of the criterias for selection to premier institutes like IIT, etc.
