The comments by these BCCI administators seem so unsympathetic. "We will see under which scheme Ramchand has applied". They can't decide themselves and offer under which "scheme" can they help him. Hats off to this richest body of cricket.
THIS IS A MOCKERY FOR THE INDIAN CRICKET. the greats which led indian cricket on top of the world are being neglected while the present players are playing in money. when the present players are being paid in crores by BCCI or the promoters, the older generation who were not even paid in lakhs, are trying their best to make both ends meet. the board is just full of politicians and they have nothing to do with cricket. a legend is in need of money and they are still in the bureaucratic process of the request coming somebody signing and then somebody objecting and some thousand meetings and by the time a meager amount of 300000(compare with the pays of present players)reaches the person he might not be there to need it. ppl. in the board, rise above the political mindset and go forward and help the very players who are responsible for making the game as it is now and feeding some paper in ur pockets..
chairman BCCI It is indeed heartining to learn that you and the board are likely to take a decission to help the stalwart in his time of crisis. keep it up the cause is both comedable and timely hope for a easter recovery jitender
Please abstain from your bureaucratic posture on this matter. Help Mr. Ramchand and his family acquire the funds for his well being. You can take the limelight for this later. You do not need a formal request for this fund knowing that time is critical in this matter. Get the funds to this man as soon as possible.
An excerpt from the article - "If the letter comes in, we will give it the highest priority. We will give all the financial assistance that can be provided," Nair said. - Does that mean they won't bother if the letter does not come in?
Mrs. Ramchand has already made it clear that she needs monetary help. Can't the board (BCCI) keep aside all this formalities and take care of the matter first - for God's sake a life is at stake here. The media served its purpose of getting the matter to the board and the board has to act immediately if sense and sensibility prevails. Everybody knows our Board's financial strength.
Rediff (also read Media) should highlight these cases until the issue in question is settled. What purpose does this web technology serve if we cannot use it in the right way. I hope Rediff takes up more responsibility in such situations and pursue the matter further till something is done. Rediff has to be critical in its comments and more aggressive as it has a greater reach into the administration and a broad readership base. Isn't this what "Pen is mightier than sword" means?
These criketers of the past who r now long forgotten should get all possible help from the cricket community. Its they who have built this mansion of cricket in India. We r a rich cricket board, we should be able to help. And I wish Mr. Ramchand good health
What Mrs. Ramchand says is not fully correct. Mr. G.S.Ramchand is an ex Air-India employee and hence Air-India pays the hospitalisation charges, he being the ex Air-India Manager as per the rules and regulations of Air India. It is true that whatever he wants may not be provided by AI but only his entitlements. I am an ex Air-Indian, I am happy with whatever facilities Air-India gives.
