Selfish cricket!
by Muralidhar Rao on Oct 29, 2003 10:54 AM

India and NZ better watch out for the OZ's. This was just their first major match in the subcontinent without any warm up practice for their benefit. Sachin and Laxman started well but were extremely slow from the 30th to the 40th over. They played extremely slow and selfish cricket because they wanted to get to 100 but soon got out after reaching 100.India were fortunate that Yuvraj and Agarkar scored a quick 66 between them. India could easily have scored another 25 runs had not Sachin and Laxman been so slow in order to reach their 100. They should realize that this is not test cricket and getting a 100 for themselves is not the goal but to play for the team by scoring quickly by hitting out when the team has lost only wicket. Had they just played their natural strokes they could not only have scored a century but could have scored 15 to 20 runs more individually. When will the Indians learn to play for the team?

slight confusion Mr. Buchannan

Mr Buchanan after experiencing a bitter loss at the hands of Indians, is giving the entire credit to the home ground rather than the performance of the indian willows. I think Buchanan should hope to play better cricket with the Indians rather than in India.
Moreover his confidence of beating Indians in Indian land with his local aussie bowlers is admirable.
KEEP IT UP Mr. Buchanan and wait for the results.
