Actually Laxman should have been selected as man of the match. Becuase it was his return to one day cricket and he played good knock. He not only supported Tendulkar but also he kept scored board moving. Atleast he shoudl have shared the award with Tendulkar.

Sachin Performance
by Asif Dahoodwala on Oct 27, 2003 02:08 PM

This is with regard to sachin's batting on yeaterdays match, though he scored a ton in the innings his batting was not satisfactory.During his his nineties he took 4 to 5 overs to complete his century he was batting in such a way as if he wanted to score century and go. It seems that he was playing for himself, otherwise if he would have played a natural game the score would have gone above 300 mark.

India's Victory over Australians yesterday
by Nitesh on Oct 27, 2003 01:50 PM

It was indeed a team effort by the Indians in their win over Australians. First it was the batsmen in the form of Sachin,Laxman,Yuvraj and Agarkar, then with the bowling led by Zaheer Khan. At one stage it seemed to be a Herculean task to win against the Australians especially when Gilchrist was slaughtering all the Indian Bowlers. It was Gilchrist's wicket that turned the match. Zaheer bowled the beauty of a delivery to take Gilchrist out of action. It was surprising to know that nobody has praised Zaheer for winning the match. All credit has been given to the rest of the Team whereas it is a known fact that it was Zaheer who gave the Indians the much needed breakthrough. If it wasn't for Zaheer, India would have been struggling to win against the mighty Aussies. I would be happy if Zaheer is given equal credit for winning the match. Also congratulations to the Indian team for winning the match and hope that they maintain the tempo not only in the rest of the series, but also in Australia against the Kangaroos.

All the best to the team.

--Nitaish

Rigged!!
by Hasan on Oct 27, 2003 12:41 PM

The match between India and Australia at Gwalior had rigged written all over it. The ways the Aussie skipper gave away his wicket was good enough to prove the fact. Even the way Hayden and Bevan got out was dubious. After all, the stakes were pretty high on this one.

Three Cheers to Rahul Dravid and his boys
by Colonel SS Rajan on Oct 27, 2003 12:21 PM

Rahul Dravid and the entire cricket team as such deserve all the kudos for their excellent performance in humbling the Aussies. To rout the Aussies who at one stage were merrily cruising at 132 for no loss, is indeed commendable and praiseworthy.Three Cheers to Rahul Dravid and his entire team. And, that brings me back to what I said when we lost to the Aussies in the World Cup final. We had the same excellent team then also. Yet we lost. Why? Only one person was responsible for for our defeat that day. Who was that? No prizes for guessing! The Indian Team had the misfortune of having Sourav Ganguly as their Captain during the World Cup and he was the Architect of our ignominous defeat. Cricket history would have been different had Ganguly not put the Aussies to bat, after having won the toss! He squandered the advantage of winning the toss. Our Batsmen were in great form and had our boys batted first, when they were fresh, we would have posted a decent total on the board, capable of defending it and giving our bowlers a fighting chance, the way we did it at Gwalior.Unfortunately, thanks to Ganguly's impetuousity and arrogance we handed over the World Cup to the Aussies on a platter.
