regarding tvs cup final
by s.prabah on Nov 25, 2003 11:44 AM

as a cricket lover general opnion was at the start of the innings tendulkar used to play very much by conventional way but after sometime he reduces his footwork try to play from the crease that was his downfall that day when he tried to play from the increase and played on the up to a delivery that moves slightly in from bichel, that was the moment more than 50% indians would think that indians could lose that match me too.

Dreavid's captaincy
by Jegathesan on Nov 01, 2003 11:50 AM

Its all bcoz of Dravid's captaincy whosend others to bat and kept cool in the field, bring all ogether and made good change in bowling. Expecting Dravid to be the permanent captain soon..

this is called a team game.
by Sumit Roy on Oct 31, 2003 04:56 PM

it is nice to see india has been playing a team game for a couple of years. india-australia match is another example of that. everybody in the team have contributed either in bowling or batting or fielding. now india does not depend much on sachin's performance to win a match. i am sure india will get more and more success if they continue playing a team game. come on india.....lagey rahooooooo.

I am a great fan of Tendulkar but I think he should stop trying to behave like the captain. His post-match comments when he wins the man-of-the-match award should be restricted to his own performance and to answering the questions posed at him. He doesn't need to thank the players for a job well done, etc. That's the job of the captain, and we have very good captains in Ganguly and Dravid who are more than capable of thanking all the right people. The captain is always given an opportunity to have a say, post-match and it is the captain's job to remark on the performance of his players, not the man-of-match who should stick to answering the questions.

Hi Maria, I would have agreed with what u said but it looks that u forget one thing about Sachin and that is presently he is one of senior players in the team and so its his duty to keep on motivating his team mates. If people like u and us can comment on our players then why Sachin can not.

Why is he being consulted in critical situatons of the matches at the ground. What will u say abt this?

He is not a just player in the team he is much more than that and that whole world know except few people of his own country.

I am reall sad to read ur comments and request u to avoid to write ur such misinterpretations.

Bye.
Pankaj

Great But.............

There's no doubt that India's win against the Aussies made us proud but have a look at a few stats (please consider a deviation of (+)(-) 2/3 balls)

1. Out of the 300 balls India faced (omitting wide & no balls), there were 143 dot balls (or 23.5 overs) which means India scored 284 runs in just 157 balls (or 26.1 overs)! This implies that India scored 1.81 runs/ball or better still, 10.88 runs/over or 180.90 runs/100 balls!

2. Out of the 119 balls faced by Sachin, he played 58 dot balls (9.4 overs)! This means Sachin scored 100 runs in 61 balls (10.1 overs)! This computes his strike rate to a whooping 163.93 runs/100 balls!

3. Out of the 134 balls faced by Laxman, he played 68 dot balls (11.2 overs)! This means Laxman scored 102 runs in 66 balls (11.0 overs)! This computes his strike rate to a whooping 154.55 runs/100 balls!

Awesome figures, aren't they? But what do these stats reveal? When India can amsss 284 runs in just 157 balls (52.33% of the total no. of balls allotted i.e. 300), then just analyze how much India would have scored had even 1/5th of the total no. of dot balls faced (approx. 29 balls) been converted into ones. 29 runs in an ODI mean a lot, isn't it?
