India needs saurav
by A cricket fan on Oct 30, 2003 01:45 AM

I think saurav is one of the BEST oneday player India ever had ( if not THE BEST).. so the comment that India is better off without him is utter nonsense and sheer joke made by people who simply DONT understand cricket. The only thing against him is the fact that he is too poor runner b/w the wicketz but the fact remains that NOT MANY ON THIS EARTH ARE BETTER TIMER OF THE CRICKET BALL THAN HIM. He is a simple genius when it comes to timing and even winning matches.

There were some comments made by some commentators, who were themselves horrible cricketers (sanjay manjerakar et al.) about his inefficiancy. I wonder if those people look back at history, instead of giving ganguly cricketing tips, and try to see how much of their techniques have helped India win matches.

Further, it has long been claimed by the people that ganguly has scored all his runs against weak opponents. I wonder if those people consider all the cricketing nations except for australia as WEAK opponents. One time mighty SA and Sri Lanka were thrashed completely by ganguly. Moreover, some of the stupid oldy cricketers might feel anguished to the fact that GANGULY IS THE BEST CAP INDIA EVER HAD.

Finally, to all those who dislike ganguly and doubt his crediblity shud simply watch ganguly's innings against the mighty Pakis at adelide 2001. An inning that can be rated as of the one of highest class but unfortunately media has never projected it that way.

Ganguly's absence is definitely a set back for India. He is the one who holds it together with his fine captaincy.

Tri series(Post Test series)

Firts and foremost, India played too much unnder their potential in the test matches, and you CAN NOT certainly blame the wickets for their show ,mind you Kiwis also played on the same wickets.

I was really amazed to see the body language of Indians , including Skipper, and was wondering whether it's the same side which played the world cup.

Then another decision struck me was exclusion of Agarkar from the side, agreed, he's not very consistent but he certainly has the great wicket taking ability, and that's what was required when Kiwis were 6 wickets down and when rest of the bowlers had absolutely given up.And not to mention, he has a test hundred under his belt so he can most surely add the depth in batting and score quick runs a well.Inclusion of Yuvraj was surprising as I personally feel Hemang Badani would have been the right choice considering the kind of runs he got in Irani Trophy and other domestic matches.I think he displayed a great class n show .So I think the team management needs to give it a more thought.

Supporting the dead or "Tailor made wicktes" from John Right was more than a surprise!

So, we come to One dayers.Dnt underestimate kiwis.
Best of Luck

One dayers Without Sourav
by Pravin on Oct 23, 2003 02:21 PM

I agree to Fleming when he says that Sourav is going to be missed all the more in one Dayers.. First of all his agrressive Captaincy and his Prolifc Batting in One Dayers makes him one of the Dangerous batsman in the World Cricket.

Its a treat to watch his Straight Sixers

I think that Indian team will feel Sarav but withour Sarauv we can play better and a lpayer will be given a chance to play.I believe that Dravid will citainly lead the team very well and Dravid is better Skipper than Saravu.
