In my opinion Dravid is the only one ideal choice to keep wickets in oneday. Coz after all in a day he has to be prepared for a maximum of 100 overs with bat n wicket keeping.I dont think he will be tired , amzing fact is that he has scored nicely when he became the wicket keeper.so i think dravid should keep wickets. but though it is tiresome we shd not send him down the order , i think he is reluctant in 5th position . promote him back to 3rd position and see he can do magic.

Dravid should be india's keeper

Patel should not be taken as Indias Wicket Keeper for one dayers, he cant make 20+ runs and is not a match winner. Dravid have did well in the past as WK Batsman. India can have an all-rounder in Patels place. India should play 8 batsmen and 3 bowlers in onedayers, Sachin, Saurav, Sehwag and Yuvraj should fill the extra 20 overs quota. We have to win, we are not playing for time pass or building talent.

will dravid keep in odi series

i think dravid has to don the wicket keeper role as that will allow to have extra batsman/alrounder on the side to fortify.till now, we haven't got a real wicketkeeper batsman who can bat at number six or seven to help the team winning in case the star batters fail.if dravid is not ready to shoulder the responsibility of wicketkeeper in one day matches,it is very unlikely his chance to be in the team(forget the current situation that ganguly is not playing and dravid is asked to lead)as we have better one day batsmen who can score runs briskly.

He Should!

Let's face it. Rahul Dravid not inclined to keep wickets or Syed Kirmani feels Dravid is not the best keeper, really does not matter. In the team's interest if he is the right guy, then let be it. Given Dravid's show in the world cup, he can jolly well continue to keep wickets and not whine about it! We can not really afford to have Parthiv in the one day side where each slot is precious and carries tremendous weight. It is only after Dravid's keeping wickets did India find a nice balance in the side.

Wicket keeper
by G Mookerjee on Oct 20, 2003 11:27 PM

The pressures of captaincy will be too much for Rahul Dravid to maintain his batting form as well as concentrate on wicketkeeping. It will be foolish to force him to do this triple role.If we have six disciplined batsmen who can concentrate on their batting, there is no necessity of Dravid to take up wicketkeeping. If inspite of this logic,Dravid has to do wicketkeeping, then we should smell something fishy.

Is it a hard and fast rule ???
by ranjan on Oct 20, 2003 09:40 PM

Can anyone of the selectors , for the matter mr.kirmani can answer; is there any hard and fast rule that one specialist wicket keeper should play in one day? Why not Dravid? if India is doing well with dravid why we bother about changing?
Well Mr.Kirmani may say Dravid would be tired ! what happens to Gilchrist?? is he not???
I would not say much except reminding the old proverb "Cut the coat according to your cloth"
