Bang on the Nail!

The problem can't be put better than the way Fleming has put it here!
Yeah, they were much better in getting adjusted to our conditions than we did a year ago in New Zealand.

Also, I feel, we were complacent!
All in all, Thanks to VVS.Laxman, who saved further blushes!

there he goes again
by yasho on Oct 22, 2003 12:03 PM

As I predicted a month ago that if this loudmouth escaped defeat in test matches he will start blowing his horn and throwing mud on India. And Faisal Sheiff, Prem Paniker and Ashish Magotra will carry that crap over their head. Folks it has started

No doubt..Kiwis did very well..second test seemed to be just NZ vs. V.V.S. Laxman...
Indians didn't perform with their full potential..

NZ's double-talk
by Dhivakaran Santhanam on Oct 22, 2003 09:09 AM

After reading this article I felt like laughing at fleming's face!!
Look at this fellow's self-proclaimed theory of adaptation!!
True that India were on the backfoot for most of the second test, but the fact is that NZ with some of their so-called "triers" were not able to force a result and this inspite of the fact that they were bowling in one of the best bowling conditions.
Compare this with the green parks we got when we toured NZ last and you will get the full and real meaning of misplaced pride.
Its so funny that a skipper who supposedly shows so much sense on the field does not show any sense at all off it!!

Bye

Dominated India....
by Vidhata on Oct 21, 2003 09:20 PM

Sure.....after we made India play in Gardens in New-Zealand, and with Indian Good-will, played on batting pitches rather than dusty spinner pitches. Stephen Fleming should be thankful to the Indians. But yes, their(Kiwis) adaptability sure is great.

Indian Players have made the NZ captain to talk again.
by jayashankar on Oct 21, 2003 07:03 PM

Had I been a selector of the Indian Team. I would rightly take a strong action against the present team who played two tests and failed to win the series. This is the first time I have seen a bad draw. NZ played to a plan and their plan was to draw the series. Aussies are aggressive and they dont like to draw a test. Just win or lose. Playing safe is a strategy and the NZ deserves all credit. They had simply proved that they are better than India in Overseas. My decision after this series I will drop all the team altogether and train a new team for the tests. I dont believe in records anymore. Winning a home series is important. Just remember what happened to steve waugh last year. Its time for the selection committee to decide. I think we can also drop them since they are also poor. Drop John Wright first and Induct a Indian coach. There are many greats then why foreign coach. If players dont agree, drop them. John didnt do anything when we played NZ. It is strange that he cannot understand his own country and his men. dont give more money to him. throw him and induct a new one

Adapatability is only in tough conditions
by Mahesh on Oct 21, 2003 06:31 PM

To claim that the Kiwis have adapted to the Indian conditions after having played matches on tracks which offer no assistance to any kind of bowling cannot be termed adaptability. To compare this with the Indian tour of NZ is to say the least, ridiculous. To classify the NZ pitches as pitches is horrendous. The real adaptability test is if the Indian curators had prepared "dust bowls" and if the NZ team had managed to draw. The truth is that the Kiwis won the series in NZ because of the pitches. Wait, there is more to the truth. The truth is that they managed to salvage the series because of the pitches too. So if they want to gain some confidence out of this, they very well may. Well, if that is what he wants, he is not going to get it. The Kiwi skipper claims that they dominated the Indians on a spinning track. Hello, did I hear spin? Because if that was so, I wonder what their so called spinners were doing? Now where in this is Mr.Fleming talking about adaptability ?

If you can make tracks to produce test match results in 2 days we provided a surface which will not provide a result in 7 days pls do not complain..
dominate ? whom India ?
first test was a narrow escape for you guys & in second test we managed to save it..
yes we did struggle in the 2nd test but remember we also made you struggle at your home.it is only that the pitches back in ur home were so horrendous that result was certain.back here it was different.
anyways if you want to be happy with you dominating india be happy with it however the record books still say india has a very good track record at home.
& that is more important.

Its absolutely true...
by Ram on Oct 21, 2003 01:36 PM

We were almost lost the match, just we played defending game because the score was very huge, but don't forget the fact when we beat Australia in Eden gardens the situation was even worst, Indians never played for win, right from word go they played defending which put Indian on back foot.
Sehwag played a brilliant knock in the opening stages and as the day progress he couldn't able to survive, Only laxman was the person who could able to handle Blacks.
