Why is everyone so negative about India's performance?
by Janani on Oct 21, 2003 09:26 AM

I don't understand why all our commentators (who are all only average by the way) have to suck up to the Kiwi commentators and criticise Indian players?
What impression are they trying to create? That they are above competing? That they encourage 'other' teams?
I think all Indians need to be proud of our cricket team and give them time to get into their groove and play good cricket. Negative comments certainly don't help!!!

Easy to say..
by Swanand Mokashi on Oct 15, 2003 08:41 AM

Well its easy to say . Manjrekar was "considered" to be the best technical batsman of his time .. why couldn't he show energy and make a 300?

India have to show...
by UMASUTA RAO . C on Oct 14, 2003 09:13 PM

Easy to blame and difficult to perform! "India could have wone.." and so on.... easily said than done!Afterall the other side(NZ test team) is no push over, that too playing under the one of the present best captains in the world! Let us appreciate India has played well and NZ has done equally well to save it.Let India prove it's capacity by winning in Mohali test. Best Wishes to our Team.

It's time for Sairaj Bahutule
by Sudheer on Oct 14, 2003 07:12 PM

Kumble is a great bowler but all good things must come to an end. Now that Kumble has got 350 wickets, he should bow out gracefully. I don't think he will get 400 soon while other great bowlers of the world are looking at 500! So what is Kumble playing for? While there is no doubt that he has been great, all the batsmen now know how to tackle him. It is better to step down when people ask 'why' and not 'why not'.

Sairaj Bahutule has also impressed with his batting, so he is a good replacement for Anil.

Why this obsession with triple hundreds?
by Praveen on Oct 14, 2003 04:45 PM

I fail to understand the sudden flurry of articles expressing concern that no Indian has scored a triple hundred. Is that really the answer to Indian cricket? We had 500 runs on the board in Ahmedabad but could not enforce a follow on by cleaning up the tail. Isn't the real problem not being able to get 20 wickets in a test match? WOuld Hayden's 385 really have mattered if the Ausssie quicks not got Zimbabwe out twice? I would be really interested to know how many of Clive Loyd's all conquering West Indian batsmen scored 300 or above individually? But are they still not remembered as one of the all time great test sides? The obsession with individual records gets to us more than the obsession with winning.

Manjrekar's energy levels

I never thought Manjrekar to come up with this view.......especially when I remember his energy levels while playing at Sharjah.

Why an Indian never scored a triple hundred
by Kish on Oct 14, 2003 03:23 PM

One of the main reasons in my opinion is that, the rest of the 10 batsmen dont last long enough for 1 guy to score 300!

What do you think?

Why don't we score tripple hundred in Test cricket
by Venkata Swamy on Oct 14, 2003 03:23 PM

To score 300 runs in an inning, we need to score runs at a faster rater than current rate of about 2.75 runs/over. Even Rahul Dravid has scored his 222 runds in about 450 deliveries at the rate 2.96 runds/over. We can't offered to score 300 runs at this scoring rate unless we as defending a huge score to save the match.
