Myopic Gaekwad
by Kavin on Oct 14, 2003 12:03 AM

It was a short-sighted perspective and an immature comment from Gaekwad to say that 'Bangar is one of our best openers.' In how many countries and against how many countries has Banger opened and been successful to say that he stands among the best Indian openers. It's true that Bangar has not been given enough opportunities but to say that he was among the best openers Gaekwad paints himself as a man suffering from a myopic perspective.

Gaekwad himself was an ordinary opener and coach, so I reckon it's only reasonable to expect ordinary comments from him.

Gaekwad the man with all the Stats
by Sanjay on Oct 12, 2003 11:55 PM

Just had to make my point. This is the man who has all the stats. The former coach of the Indian team said a few days ago that Dravid is a more consistent player thahn Hayden. I am not sure whether this man knows how to count. Hayden in his last 31 odd tests has scored over 3000 runs and there is no on close to him. All the rest are below 2500 runs including Dravid, Tendulkar, Ponting etc. This is the same man who in 1998 when coach of the Indian team on the tour of New Zealand said that India had the best and most balanced attack in the world. Did they win a test? No. Well I rest my case. Anyone that takes notice of Mr Gaekwad's comments please understand that is pro-indian without any foundation behind it. Let the results state the facts rather than the mouth. That's whay there's Australia in cricket than the rest.

Sorry Bangar !
by Kaunain Shahidi on Oct 11, 2003 05:29 PM

There are many extra qualifications required to be in the Indian Cricket team, it's not necessary to be only a good player but good relationships with many power holders. It seems Bangar has to learn the 'apple polishing' apart from playing good cricket. Wishing you good luck Bangar.
