Technical error...
by Srikanth on Oct 10, 2003 03:43 PM

I think that Ganguly's declaration on a placid wicket was a bit premature. With just 301 required to avoid follow on and the wicket offering a bit of turn and bounce and with Vettori looking in ominous form, i hope this decision doesnt backfire. Assuming we are going in with a lead of 200 , if new zealand manage to bowl out india cheaply, chasing a target of 350-400 could be achievable with two days remaining though i am optimistic india will win...

pace bowling

zaheer is the best bowler in the indian side till today he is considered to be the best of the most, indian cricket requires this type of speedsters who are lefties in particular, with his opening partner nehra these two can make lots of diff. in bowling side where we lagging behind apart from the speed accuracy and consistancy is required by our team to success, INDIAN team is the best, wish u all the luck on the pitch.

Hold on .......

Hey, what's so great that Zaheer has done? He does deserve a pat on the back, but dont exaggerate so much !! Cool down, rediff - I know you want to be first to predict the greatness, but remember in the same Ahmedabad field, Srinath had wonders and had shown that pace works here.

So let Zaheer show more talent

Runaway Zaheer!
by Muralidhar Rao on Oct 10, 2003 04:37 AM

As an Indian I felt really proud the way Zaheer bowled and took those 3 wickets. I cannot remember in recent times an Indian fast bowler taking wickets like this in a test, barring Srinath. It is true that the NZ players were under pressure. But it is always the opposition fast bowlers blowing away the Indian batsmen. For a change it was an Indian fast bowler showing the opposition what an Indian fast bowler can do on a pitch that does not help seam bowlers. I was disappointed with young Balaji not being a foil to Zaheer. Remember the adage fast bowlers hunt in pairs. Even one wicket from Balaji would have obliterated whatever confidence the NZ players may have had. I just hope for Balaji's sake that he bowls with more venom and takes atleast 6 wickets in the match because with the Indian selectors the first impression means a lot. I would hate to see a fine bowler like Balaji end up like the unfortunate Yohannan. Under the present circumstance the encouragement from the captain means a lot, considering Balaji is playing his first test.I wonder if Ganguly can measure up to such requirements.
