Good luck and all the very best to skipper Saurav and his boys !
by Dr. Cajetan Coelho on Oct 06, 2003 05:47 PM

The selectors have done a good job by appointing Ganguly to lead the Indian cricket team against the Kiwis. The elegant batsmen has sufficient credentials to lead the Indian team and right now Saurav along with Steve Waugh look to be the tallest leaders on view who are able to bring out the best from the senior and junior players under their care. What is to be appreciated is the manner in which Saurav has been handling the team. The captain is not competing against his own players. We like that. All the best!

it's actually a good job by the selectors retaining saurav ganguly as the skipper for both the tests as well as the odis.he has done extremely well when compared to the rest of the captains india has had over the years.he has done well both as the captain & also as a player.
my wishes to the indian team & to saurav ganguly fot the series to come.
all the best DADA.

Great choice-as usual!

It was a good decision to retain ganguly as captain. He has been India's most successful captain, and we need him to lead the side against the mighty aussies. lets win a few series first, and tehn talk about trying out new blood!!

Decision on expected lines.
by Ananth on Oct 03, 2003 06:47 PM

ganguly has been in the helm for 3years and a little and he brought India some overseas victories in tests(which is a rare event ).What has gone wrong with Indian cricket to even think on the lines of changing the skipper of a well-knit and a performing team beats my imagination...

Ganguly is the man who has brought passion for victory to a sulking unit which he took over in early 2000.lets give the man in the most unenvible position some support for God's sake and let him concentrate on the upcoming tours..

Regs

Not a good choice!

This is was good opportunity for the board to try some new blood at the helm before the tough Australian trip, but they dropped the ball big time. Ganguly doesn't even deserve a place in the eleven let alone skipper the team. Shame on the board for being spineless once again.

hey! that is total bullshit wat u said.. i dunno why u need fresh blood takin the helm.. i feel saurav's blood is fresh enough(lol)!!.he is the best captain india has ever had.. with all the sledging problems around,if u have to face the abusive aussies u need someone like saurav..one can understand that from the incident with upul chandana back then..no questions abt his abilities coz he's simply the best!!!

RE:Not a good choice! ... Shame on Rediff

Rao .. dont worry .. you VVS Laxman will never become captain ...try as hard as you can ...in fact ,the pathetic player he is, he might even struggle to gain a place in the playingt eleven .

Shame on Rediff for publishing this message by Rao . It shows the cheap publicity that rediff is trying to derive by pulling down Ganguly .
