Really touched my heart
by Ramesh Kulkarni on Nov 27, 2003 06:04 PM

I read the entire article....I really couldn't believe that a person like Steve Waugh who looks so adamant & strong believer, might have gone through those moments. It really hurt me on the other side, that Australian Cricket Board should have allowed him to play another couple of years.....Anyway I wish him all the best whatever he is going to do further, i.e., Establishing Charities etc...
I really admire him...he is really a HERO not only in Australia also in India too. We have seen him in MRF ads, in news magazines etc....he is a real achiever not only in cricket but also in social acitivities..

Best Luck Steve!!!

Steve Waugh

Dear Steve,

As a cricket fan , for me Steve Waugh always spelt Sure Win. There is no doubt that after Don Bradman , the next name that comes to any cricket lover's mind is that of yours as far as Australians are concerned.I wish you all the best for your future endeavours.

Before I close , one small suggestion ; though the Australian team is admired for their skills in cricket , they are hated worldwide for sledging. Of late ICC has forced them not to do it. Since there is a full fleged cricket academy in Australia , which brings out the best in every player in all aspects of the game , you can lend your advice through the academies to stop sledging. This way the Australian cricketers will be liked in all aspects by the whole world. In the present team , Adam Gilchrist is one player who can be of great influence in this regard.

it's painful for fans

To see playing Steve Waugh into the middle is a great feeling itself. He was a devoted, anchor of the australian cricket team with good manners too. How can one forget his innings in WC - 99 in england against SA in super six. He was a great player of all time.

He never run for his own record. His objective is to just win nothing else. He has a great chance of beating world record of ALLAN BORDER of highest runs in test, but he never think of it.

Steve - really a great player. World will remeber him forever for his contribution to lift up the game. Well played steve.

Thanks for the Memories Mr. Waugh
by Ashvin Oza on Nov 27, 2003 12:00 PM

Steve Waugh is a rare individual because of his ability as a Cricketer, Social Worker and Human-being.

His love for the game is reflected on how he handled himself and situations on / off the pitch.

His caring for others is reflected on what he is doing in India and Australia through his Foundation.

His greatness is that he is a Mortal who sees others suffering and is doing something about it.

Hats of to you Steve, you certainly are a rare person to look up to and take direction from.

We in India have made you part of our lives because of these qualities and God Bless you for that you do and will do in the future.

Enjoy your children and life after Cricket.

Steve Waugh's Decision to Quit
by Prithviraj on Nov 27, 2003 11:54 AM

Steven Waugh has always been an inspirational player not just to the Aussies or for anybody who playes the game, but for the millions of individuals who follow the game worldwide. A personification of courage, charachter and temperament coupled with a heart full of mercy and charity, Waugh has set the standards - as a player, captain and more importently , as a human being- which will be difficult for anybody , from anywhere to meet and which will continue to inspire all those who aspire to represent their country. It is due to people like him that Cricket is known as the Gentlemen's Game. He will be missed .. enduringly all over the cricketing world more so in India.

It is often said,"You reap what you sow."Steve Waugh has sown so much of goodness all his life,it wiil be a big load to carry if he really has to carry all that he reaps - but there are many who have benefitted because of him born into this world that he will always have enough and more people to stand for and by him. This world needs more human beings like him

It is not an end to his second innings, only an end of his first innings.
Another legend will remain in the history of Australian and world cricket after the dusk of a great series

Goodbye mate

As a great admirer of your batting and even more of your captaincy I wish you the very best for the future. I have long been facinated by the manner in which you raised Australian cricket to even greater heights from its already high pedestal. Whenever you write your autobiography, you can be sure I'm buying! As you walk into the sunset of an illustrious cricket career, you have the satisfaction of knowing that you have inspired a whole generation of cricketers and non-cricketers alike.
