When cricketers of fame decide to call it a day, it saddens everyone - be it the Management, the Team members, the local fans and the fans the world over, persons associated with them in one way or the other.In the case of Steve Waugh, it is something special indeed so far as India is concerned. His concern for those afflicted and, thus, his relationship with Udayan is very well known. Fans in India liked him for his excellent leadership and, when the team badly needed it, his individual performances. He can take pride in the fact that during the course of his Test and ODI career, he has built up a team which will keep the flag flying. And, this will be the real gift they can give to Steve. We all wish him well and hope his valued guidance, in one form or the other - would be available to the cricketing world.
