india definitely needs a spinner.that too murli kartik would b the best choice.i seriously cant undertsand what the selectors r doing?r they out of their sense or they r making a mockery ?what more does a bowler have to do to prove his worth?and kumble hasnt bowled well so why is he in the team.how long will the selectors give an xcuse of needing the services of an xperienced spinner who does not even spin the ball.really sorry for kartik.and great job "the fabulous five"seletors.
Would be happy if you could let me know the bowling line up Austraila has in 1985-86, when Mr Allan Border was busy trying to build up a depleted Aussie side... Performing against a 1985 Aussie side and a 2000 Aussie side make a lot of difference, buddy
Three wins in 28 Tests two of those against a B-Grade team led by Bobby Simpson in 1977-78 isn't indicative of a winning formula. In fact, the last time India won a Test in Australia [Melbourne, February 1981], wooden tennis racquets and Mac the Mouth Sachin Tendulkar's hero were in vogue
I am surprised that you think that Indian spinners will do damage in Australia. Instead of looking back into the 80s, lets look at the last tour. Who were the best bowlers for India? Agarkar(aka Bombay duck) and Srinath were the most productive bowlers in the series. Notice that I specified the word productive because they werent exactly dashing either. You cant compare the 80s Aussies to this group because they are much better with the spin especially at home against an older Kumble and an out of form Harbhajan, although not selecting Karthik was a total mystery to me. I would definitely not pick Kumble considering the performance he gave last time around(avg of 90.0), but instead throw out whatever pace bowler India has to offer. Lets face it, the only pitch that the spinners will have a chance in Australia is on the Sydney ground.
