ALLEGED BRIBERY BY A CRICKETER
by SHIV KUMAR on Nov 21, 2003 03:53 PM

Dear Sir

I do not know who is culprit, but can say for sure the way BCCI and selectors have raised hue and cry in the media about it, they should not do things like this. Both the selectors and the BCCI should restraint themselves in this kind of affair.We are becoming habitual of getting media glare. BCCI anyway gets attracted to media. They should concentrate more on how to improve cricket standards than doing all this. It seems we have not learnt anything from the recent defeat in the hands of Australia.

if he has really bribed the selectors then some action should be taken against him. But if he has not really bribed the selectors then these selectors should be ousted from their position with immediate effect. Sourav Ganguly is the only man who has really stood up against the selectors who are bent up CHOOSING their favorite players, such as, Parthiv Patel. He keeps on getting selected without any performance. Deep dasgupta was a good batsman and an avg wckt keeper. who knows he may have improved on his keeping. but he never gets an chance.

Bribery Scandel
by Viswanathan nair on Nov 20, 2003 08:17 PM

It is not surprising, when the whole nation rocks in corruption why not cricket also have some scandels. Corruption is like an infectious disease. Ministers from whose pooja room three crores of rupees was taken is still a minister in Haryana and and a Chief Minister deep in the south with so many corruption charges against her is still the Chief Minister. Unless we are able to wipe out this malady in higher places there is no point in point in pointing our finger at smaller corruption charges. The cricketer in question deserves punishment of course.

When you write such an article, it is important to state the name of the player. Otherwise it has no meaning. I'd suggest you either remove the article or take names. This is not unique to you but is the low standard indian journalists keep. Writing inane articles about "a player" or "a person" or "a minister" etc. doesnt make such sense if names arent mentioned.

bribery => cricket

This is the problem with the indian law. We should bring the criminal immediately infront of law and punish them heavily. Otherwise we will have similar issues in Indian sports.
