Over confidence
by rajappa on Nov 20, 2003 03:38 PM

I thinks the minds of Sewag,Tendulkar, yuvaraj ,Dravid had taken for granted even before the indian batting started that they had won the Cup.I think we should drop sewag and Yuvaraj for a match or two.

something or the other
by Ram on Nov 20, 2003 03:31 AM

Srinath,

We all know that we lose either because we didn't bat well, bowl well or field well. Instead of giving a report of the match (we get that from every Tom, Dick and Harry who writes about cricket) why don't you give a more insightful report about the game?

I expect to see interesting comments from past players and you disappoint me by giving a standard report on the events of the game. Come on Sri, you need to improve on your writing skills. I'm sure you will. Give us more on what players think and how it is to be in the middle, rather than the same old stuff that Faisal, Prem and others throw at us.

We Indians are a big Joke!
by Girish on Nov 20, 2003 02:05 AM

Cricket is played by only 10 countries in the entire world, but we say that we are world champions.
In the last 20 years, we have not even won the world cup which is played by only 10 countries.

Yet every Independence day, out of every 20 second flicks on tv showing highlights of India, we show 10 seconds of Cricket highlighting Sachin Tendulkar.

Cricket needs to be banned so that we Indians can move on to achieving more meaningful things.
Mera Bharat Mahaan!

Honesty
by Anand on Nov 20, 2003 12:00 AM

Mr. Srinath,
you have been a great cricketer and I have always admired your bowling. But you have not made any fair comments about Murali Karthik being dropped and instead your dear freind Anil is taking his place. I do acknowledge the fact that Kumble is a great player. But going by the performance, Karthik should have been in the team but he is not. I hope you know how it feels to sit out even when you know that you are a better bowler. You had the same problem when you did not get to play in tests because Prabhakar and Kapil dev were around. You were a honest cricketer during your days. I hope you continue to be honest when writing artciles as well.

TVS Cup final
by ramasub on Nov 19, 2003 11:09 PM

Despite all the mistakes ,the Indian team was comfortably placed at the end of the thitieth over. The run/balls equation was in its favour and all that the batsmen had to do was take singles and an occassional four. There was no visible sign of the batsmen at the crease confabulating and finetuning their approach. Sachin has to take a major blame as he was one batsman who was middling the ball, was well set and should have anchored the innings till the end.But Sachin once again confirmed that he just does not have it in him to put the team's interest above his personal one. He did that at the Wanderers and again at the Eden gardens. He just made sure that he got the leading batsmen's prize. Times out of number Sachin has failed his team. The batsmen failed the team miserably. An australian team,in a similar situation, would never have squandered its advantage,
Just to say glibly at the end of the game that one is sorry for this and that is unprofessional like. I do hope that some member of the Indian team reads my views and gives his response.Maybe it could be Sachin

Why are Srinath's articles pro Dravid, Kumble.. doesnt seem to ever mention how great Tendulkar or other guys play... We need more genuine articles here like the way Prem Panicker does..

V.V.S LAXMAN
by ramdas on Nov 19, 2003 07:28 PM

Dear Friends
I would like to suggest that VVS does not fit in the team at all.Not only that his feilding is poor at any place but I doubt he will be succeessfull in Austalia.
The batsman who had a string of failiers on tailor made pitches in India, what can you expect in bouncy &
fast pitches in Australia.Fine one epic innings of 281 is addmirable .I beleive players like Kumble,& Laxman should be thrown out because of poor perfomances.
Regards
Ramdas

Why do u
by Ameet Kokatnur on Nov 19, 2003 07:27 PM

MR. Srinath,

Why do u keep on praising the Indian Team even when it plays poorly. I would also like to read an article from you on the team selection and the bunch of five jokers. You don have to be scared to write as you have already retired.

What about Kumble?
by Vatsa on Nov 19, 2003 07:03 PM

Mr. Srinath,

While I totally applaud and respect your decision of stepping down, when any other bowler/person of your esteem would have continued for another couple of years, I dont see in any of your articles about Karthik's selection controversy. Karthik has been bowling beautifully for the past 2-3 years and the only reason he has been kept out is because of Kumble and his 350 plus wickets taken on ...let us say helpful tracks. The only mention I see in your article is "Much improved spinner Karthik..." probably it is difficult to write about a friend and former colleague in your column.
Best Wishes
Vatsa
