Not only Ponting, but also the Indian cricket fans would have been surprised seeing the team selection for the finals which digged the grave for Indians in the final of the TVS Cup against the Aussies.Playing 7 batsmen was a match-winning combination and will remain as match-winning combination for the Indians in the future unless and untill good wicketkeeper/batsman Tilak Naidu will get a chance to play for the country.Indian team should know that disturbing their balace of the side during a final match of a series and that too again the Aussies will never help them.Dropping 1 batsman proved costly for the Indians in the final.Salvi inclusion in the team by dropping 1 batsman kaif was like digging their own grave in the final against the Aussies at Eden Gardens. It was really like committing sucide.Indians would have always left the absence of one batsman.
The team should concentrate more on cricket than on endorsements. The Board should deny all the current players from entering into endorsements. If the Board does not have enough power to control the players on their endorsements, a rule has to be made stating that "all earnings from the endorsements of all players should be credited into a special account which will be controlled by the BCCI and only 30% of the net amount should be released to the players. The rest of the fund should be utlised for upgrading/building cricket statiums, and provide proper infrastructure for other sports. And finally, the selection of the first eleven should be purely on merit and no outside influence should be entertained if our team has to perform well in future. Thanks. Indian Citizen. Even Ricky Ponting realised it. India did not bat deep with Agarkar coming at seven. And we have now seen it the way it all happened. Kaif should have been played either in place of Laxman or India should have gone with 4 bowlers. Anyway, Tendulkar, Yuvraj, Sehwag, everybody bowls. and they can between themselves complete those ten overs. Kaif's absence was very much felt as fielding on the day left a lot to be desired.
The way Badani threw away his wicket, it seemed to remind us how after many failures he was excluded and now when he was in the team and situation demanded only to play a supportive role to Dravid, he wanted to finish the match by slogging. Kaif, as we all know, plays safe and rotates the strike by excellent running between the wicket. And this was indeed the need of the hour. India simply could have walked away with the Final if Kaif was there in the team.
Truly the comback and adapting to the environment is what Aussies are known far.
Irrespective of Gilchrist's failure in batting, the kangroos succumbed to the bowling attack and was able to control the host.
Its indeed a pulsating victory for Ausies.
Moving forward, Indians would look a lone under dogs in front of the sydney, melbourne crodw and pittied.
hats off to Aussies.....
we got to excel in all platforms viz batting, bowling, and Fielding of course.
Critical costs of indian's defeat 1) Laxman's catch drop. 3/5 ( pontin, martin, hayden) 2) not coping up with the scoring rate..... 3) un necessary shots --- u got to look to the equation and try not intelligence. 4) Dravid and badani being worried after 77 to win.... 5) Sachins drappy shots....
Ponting had reasons for being surprised at the selection of the Indian team. How could Salvi get a place in the Final, having not been tried out earlier for any match in the series? He was like a fish out of the water infront of the 100.000 crowd.Having had bitter experience in wicketkeeping in the previous match against Australia,Parthiv Ptel could have been included and Dravid could then concentrate on batting and captaincy.
