few possible cause....
by Baskar on Nov 19, 2003 11:21 PM

i really pity for Tendulkar, Dravid and well.may be a surprise addition Ganguly.to be in this team.they did everything they can.i guess.Dravid although he is not confortable, he is keeping wickets.odd chances are ok. but ofcourse no escaping to be given as the time goes. have to improve. tendulkar.he really applied himself.he made a sincere effort to be in the field. i guess no one would disagree this. rest. sorry to say this. well.they might be having too many ads to be shot. does anybody other than Dravid,Tendulkar. well as Agarkar was not out till the end. he is ok. know what cricket is?? how to play cricket? did they come into field after dipping all thier hand in butter so that every thing is slipping out of their hand??? did the bowlers know what a bat is? and how to hold it properly? do they have brains to apply themselves on the match.looking the situation? i really felt like they are on for a jolly walk when thebowlers came into bat,commitment.attitude.presense of mind.application.all these words weigh more than talent in a group game like cricket which is watched bye more than 1000000000 people. Please players.before taking the field.take a pledge that I will give my 100%

well......possible causes...
by Baskar on Nov 19, 2003 11:07 PM

Hi Pals... well. everyone was found searching the causes of loss in the final at Eden Gardens. To add to that, let me give a few more causes..

1. Attitude of Indian players.. Particularly the bowlers.. ofcourse everyone is guilty.. but i would say the bowlers lost the match.. tell me how many of our oneday specialist bowlers have played in Test matches.. I guess that would have sorted out their abilities to take pressure.. reckless.. not even club level batting... attitude is the biggest difference between the team like Australia and other teams.. Our guys for sure, I guess have lot lot and lot of talent in all the areas.. in fielding tooooo.. i have seen indians taking a few excemplary extra ordinary catches... but which one is going wrong?? attitude? a bowler concentrates only on bowling.. if it is fielding.. batting... sorry!! it is out of my hand boss!!! push the ball in the other court.. well.. responsiblities are to be taken.. i would say Agarkar started the procedings... although not intentionally... started bowling wides in the first over itself which releives the pressure of a batsmen.. well.. i guess all our much hyped cricket players have become great actors..

Indian Cricket, the worst of all season!
by Siva Shankar on Nov 19, 2003 02:36 PM

Everytime when they loose, just keep blaming on the each other like bowling let them down or batsmen let them down. Is this the way any other cricket playing nation complaining? Even they couldn't play a second string australian attack, how come they will take on McGrath, Gillespie and Lee when at their backyard? Just note down in your diaries, In the 4 match series, It will 0-4 for India, getting the nil. I am sure about it. If they start playing for their country then they can do well, otherwise if they do for name & fame they will be the same as of now. Not only in test matches but also in the ODIs. Better to place India in the 10 position in the Ceat Cricket Ratings. I feel shame of telling this being an Indian. But still we have to accept some fact which is true. The selectors have to look into the talented youngsters than making Politics in the game. But, whatever it is Dog's tail cannot be straightened.

Indian Cricket!
by Siva Shankar on Nov 19, 2003 02:23 PM

We used to say Indian Cricket having the world class players like Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly, etc etc. But they are all fit for nothing. Just playing good once in 5 or 10 matches may be good for the fans. But it is like loosing their pride in the air. Take the New Zealand and Australia team. Even the last bowler can play and make his team to win. That is what we call as fighting spirit. Indians are in need of that. They have to learn from them, instead of talking about their good matches in the past. I actually thought Indians were doing well in the previous world cup, but now only i understood that it was just a luck Indians got to get into the final. Now in this TVS Cup final, I would like to paly New Zealand and Australia in the final rather than India with Australia. Because those 2 teams are good in overcoming the nervous sitatuation and play up to their potential. I lost hope on them after a long wait, that they can come up good. I am not going to see any matches hereafter unless i hear that Indians are consistent like Australians. I am sure it may happen or may not. But the possible chance is it will never happen. Let them do all sorts of Advertisement and earn more. Good Bye..

Indian Cricket
by Siva Shankar on Nov 19, 2003 01:32 PM

Very Very good morning. Nov 18th is the last day in my life watching cricket. I lost all my interest in watching cricket, especially Indian cricket. Stupid things going on. If i would been the selector, i would have banned Indian cricket for a decade. Everytime when they loose i used to convince myself like they will do well in the future. But those times they will loose in high scoring games. Can't they even get this 235 runs? And that too in their home ground? They we called as Lion in their Den. But now they proved they are nothing wherever they go. Soon we will see Bangladesh or Kenya beating India in a convincing manner. I was a well wisher of Indian Cricket, even when others scold them i used to fight with them like they will do better in future. But now i'll advice others not to waste time watching Indian Cricket. Instead if we sleep for that 3 hours it will be good for our health. Ask them to go and sleep at home rather playing cricket and making their fans feeling worst on them. No Professionalism, No fighting Spirit, nothing. Being good players doesn't matter. Its all about winning the game. Indian Cricket forgot that a long back. Good Bye to Indian Cricket once for all.

Poor batting strategy.
by Alwyn on Nov 19, 2003 10:59 AM

The Indian's had no batting strategy for the day and the pitch, they only knew they had to get 235, however they come. Yuraj & Badani got out playing across the wicket. The required runrate was well under control, and it was time to eliminate the risks, and play safe sensible cricket. On this pitch with uneven bounce and turn, trying to turn the ball or sweep the ball ON THE UP was definitely a RISK. It would have been safer to play straight, however tempting the gaps were across the wicket. Badani scored some excellent boundaries playing straight. Agarkar played some excellent straight shots. Dravid blames the batsman !. Were these young bataman advised on these things?. Are these minor but important details discussed in team strategy meetings before every game?. Or do we just rely on talent, luck, & passion to achieve glory?. Another case is Zaheer !. He thinks he should only bowl. For he does not even know that the least he could do is realize and attempt to get the bat in front of the ball. The Australian bowlers never gift their wickets away when they bat.

Ganguly's absence felt.
by spc on Nov 19, 2003 10:42 AM  | Hide replies

India would have won at Edeb Gardens had Sourav Ganguly been in the team. He is the batsman, who could have easily chipped in with a 70 or 80 in the middle order which would have won the match for India. Ganguly along with Tendulkar are India's top two ODI batsmen.
Tendulkar expectedly failed in the final. He has failed to get a matchwinning knock in the finals after that 143 against the Aussies at Sharjah in 1998.

RE:Ganguly's absence felt.
by Siva Shankar on Nov 19, 2003 02:49 PM
Rightly said....... Tendulkar plays only once in a while to lift India up. He is also getting tames under pressure. Even if they undergo 100s of defeats, they will not learn from them. Some may think it will be easy to sit and comment on them. But then why they are called as World class players and best batsmen. If they are good it is quite natural to expect them to come up well. Even India A team would have made that match very close unlike this one. Even New Zealands loss against Australia came only after a long fight and it was a close contest. So better to call the Indians as Underdogs instead of calling Bangladesh or Kenya, since they are growing well nowadays.

Playing Eleven.
by saunak dyundi on Nov 19, 2003 10:42 AM

Yesterday's match was a total disaster for india and for millions of there fans, i would seriously ask one question, that why a senior bowler like anil kumble, was not included in the playing eleven. As this was the final match, that too on The Great EDEN GARDENS. one should always have their senior most player, also because another senior batsman and regular captain was not fit to play,. Kumble would have been a definate advantage for us, when u compare him with Avaiskar Salvi(frankly one should not even think of comparing kumble with him)but i don't know what Mr. John Wright and team managment had to compare.
The other bad selection for me in the playing eleven was Yuvraj Singh, it seemed that he was never there, mentally on the ground for the whole series. One would say that in bad form player cannot bat properly, but there is one thing in cricket were form is really not required and that is fielding, but yuvraj was found lacking in it for the whole series. Kaif should had been included in playing eleven in place of yuvraj, also because kaif is big match player.
If this is what our great team managment has to offer, than be prepared for another white Wash in Down Under.
